i prefer Neroli Portofino
I realize this is the wrong season. Looking to get a gift for my wife.
Which Italian coast inspired fragrance line impresses you the most overall? Quality? Longevity? Etc.
The lines I am aware of are Acqua Di Parma (blue bottle line), Perris Monte Carlo line, Tom Ford (again, blue bottles).
Am I missing obvious options?
Opinions appreciated
i prefer Neroli Portofino
My favorite is Mandarino di Amalfi from Tom Ford. It's got a great freshness but also depth to it and feels very Italian coast-y and marine. I happen to get great performance out of this, 8+ hours, and solid projection for the first few hours as well. It's a Summer staple for me 100%.
An obvious line would be the house of Carthusia from the island of Capri. I own 8 of their offerings, and Mediterraneo is a fantastic lemon, summery scent.

There are a few niche houses that take the name from there, like some other acque, eg Eau d'Italie (I think originally prepared for a hotel in the costiera amalfitana), Acqua di Genova, Acqua di Stresa (a lake, not the coast), Elba, Profumi del Forte (which for the most part are not fresh though). And then the exclusive lines of some designer brand tend to have freshies with the name of an Italian coastal place (eg Zegna, Ferragamo, etc).
Overall, I'd still say that Acqua di Parma is the most interesting.

Acqua di Sale by Profumum Roma is decent for this, as is Heeley's Sel Marin, but I agree, there are plenty of less obviously/available commercial options that you might wish to look in to.

Fair question. In my opinion most of these are completely uni-sex. I am looking for my wife but I enjoy this type as well. I think most are dominant citrus notes with fruits or florals added for variety. Yes, in my search, the names are what I am using but I fully understand that what I am looking for might be found with a completely different name.

FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.
Try Acqua di Portofino Notte Intense if you can, really a great take on a slightly salty ambery musk (virile and restrained) with a touch of italian olive tree leaf.
Any thoughts on stuff from E Marinella?

+1 on Carthusia Mediteraneo.
Tom Ford Neroli Portofino smells like money vanishing into thin air upon spraying... I must be anosmic to it or something.
Thanks for the valuable info. I had entertained thoughts of blindbuying 100 but this puts it to rest; Aventus and I just don’t get along.

Also adding most unisex and feminine choices by houses like Acqua di Genova and Etro-anything that fits both the required scent criteria and is more easily available.
Alternatively quite a few among the feminine and unisex scent by bargain to mid priced house l'Erbolario offer a diverse range of Mediterranean coast inspired scents while their performance is reliable due to the fact that they are almost exclusively in EDP strength.
Not surprised it hasn't come up, but I wonder who here as tried all the Light Blue flankers with Italian coastal reference names (Swimming in Lipari, etc).
I like the Acqua di Parma line, but only the Blu Mediterranean series is full of Italian references...Fico di Amalfi is great.
Creed Jardin d'Amalfi
Zegna Italian Bergamot and Mediterranean Neroli.
If having to be more specific, Accordo Arancio has a nice, almost "glowing orange" style, both fresh and warm citrus note, but also Osmanthus, Regine dei Prati, Periplo, Hedera, Frescaessenza, Neroli, while this list is far from complete- do all offer both quite complex and inexpensively, affordable priced choices with either unisex and/or feminine leanings, often, mostly if not even entirely with a Mediterranean/Southern European/Italian, even if not always nor necessarily coastal, feel.
I'll toss in an obvious one. Acqua di Parma's entire Blu Mediterraneo line. I think most of them are worth buying and every one of them could appeal to someone individually. Edit - oops. You already said you know about this line. Sorry.
Hmm. If you seriously want to explore Italian fragrances, then you should look into wet shaving. Most, if not all of the classic Italian scents come from post-shave pampering at barber shops.
Citrus-based aftershaves with some white florals are quite common. Lavender is also very prominent.
Some recommendations that experienced wet shavers seem to make are:
Lavanda Coldinava
Razorock - Zi' Peppino (I love this one. It's tobacco flower, not leaf, the flower and that's it, but it's really, really nice.)
Alvarez Gomez - Aqua Colonia Concentrada (lemon, spanish lavender, geranium and eucalyptus with essential oils of Bergamot, English Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme)
Figaro Dopobarba - Monsieur Bluice (Head notes: Neroli and Peppermint / Heart Notes: Grapefruit, Vetiver and Cedar Wood / Base Notes: Laudano, Canforous Amber)
Cella aftershave lotion (cherry and almond)
