Default Posts randomly display narrow - annoying to readers

I searched “posts, width, narrow, wide” and only found a thread from 2010 that said something had been fixed. I want my posts to always be wide instead of being very narrow and long. I think this is annoying for readers. It is annoying to me. Is there a way to make all my posts display wide instead of randomly displaying narrow?

    Try this, Earlyn.

Click on "Settings" up at the top right.

Then, scroll down and click on "General Settings" on the left.

Then, scroll down to "Forum Skin" and click on the pulldown menu.

Make sure it is set on "Wide Forums" and then remember to scroll down a little bit and hit "Save". (Very important!)

Everything should now be the entire width of the page....and yes, it makes reading MUCH more pleasant.

RedRaider, I did exactly as you described -- twice, actually, and yes, I saved the settings changes -- but texts still narrow. Doesn't really bother me though.

    E.t.a.
The two posts above mine are still narrow, but this post I made is at full width.

    Second e.t.a.
After I posted the last time, my post turned narrow.
    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

I think this only happens on the first and last posts on the page. At least it does for me.
Could be where ads would display but are just white space if you have BN plus.

Not sure if there is a way to completely eliminate this beyond what Red mentioned.

I suspect this ^^ is the answer. I just tried all the different forum skin settings (never knew there was a pink one!), and none of them made any difference in forum widths.

Earlyn, you might also try changing the number of of posts you view per page (under the same settings menu). Try setting it to 100 and see if that widens your forum text.

Thanks to everyone for the forum tips. I did have my settings at wide but I changed my display to 100 post view per page and will see if that changes things. I had read about the first and last posts being narrow and can’t say for certain if I have experienced it otherwise - curious. Will see if Cook.bot’s post goes wide after I submit this one.

    Edit
Ok - Cook.bot’s post went wide while my post above is narrow. Seems Quarry’s experience was different with prior posts.

    2nd Edit
And now my post went wide after I did the above edit. Perhaps editing fools the system into thinking it is not the last post.
