Default Looking for a soft, rosewater-like rose

I've tried many a rose, but I've yet to find "the one".

Perfect rose to me would basically smell like rosewater, buy one that lasts (ideally without soapy Musks).

Any suggestions? Also, thoughts on Nicolai's Rose Royale?

    Hi Dane,

We seem to like similar notes, I'm on the hunt for rosewater scents too. The only one I have is sadly discontinued, Jo Malone Rosewater and Vanilla. I actually found this on eBay for a reasonable price, not sure if there are other listings, might be handy to have a look.
Looking forward to hearing other suggestions!

    Try Mohur by Neela Vermeire.

Possibly also Joop Le Bain-while the scent alone may be in a certain rosewater style, its performance does however tend to move away from this rose lightness and become more of a powerhouse rose, but even so while ramping up rosewater notes to nearly nuclear, but also creamy and quite intoxicating accents

It's hard to sustain a fresh, clean rose without ending up in a washing machine.

$$$ Kurkdjian Ode a la rose manages to remain fresh and clean for a long time.
The de Nicolai one is good too-perhaps more substantial and spicy than rosewater, but it doesn't go into soap at all.

You could give Sa majeste la rose by Serge Lutens a try

Here are a few suggestions you can try:

Rose de Mai by Fragonard - this scent started out pure rosewater on my skin for about 10 mins before the lily of the valley note kicked in. My skin amps up lily of the valley so it may stay a watery rose on someone else.

Rosewater by Crabtree & Evelyn - it's discontinued but fits the type of rose you are after.

Eau Rose by Diptyque - my most worn rose scent, simplicity done perfectly. I wear it when I want rose & nothing but rose. Overall, it's pure rose but it's not watery to me. Some of the other supporting notes are noticeable in different humidities & weathers but overall the scent stays rose at all times.

À la Rose by MFK - a softer, lighter, more transparent rose scent than Eau Rose. It does have a bit of a watery feel to it.

Thank you all! Apparently putting a rose emoji in the title didn't play well.

Many good suggestions - I'm glad to see no one resorted to suggesting flimsy citrusy roses.

I'll take a look at all the suggestions. Much appreciated.

I would add Coty La Rose Jacqueminot

I just have had a whiff of the rose water in my kitchen, and the closest rose fragrance that I'm familiar with is probably JhaGs Miss Charming, but it is a bit fruitier. It's very rounded, not soapy at all and the longevity is very good. The perfumer is Kurkdjian.

Eau Rose by Diptyque is great, but longevity is very poor on me.

A couple remind me of rose water:

    1. Diptyque’s L’Ombre Dans L’Eau - watery rose

    2. Montale’s Highness Rose - realistic rose
