I have too many fragrances so I'm trying to avoid asking for or giving them. I'm planning on taking a break from the hobby after December.
But if I was asking, I'd ask for Floris Leather Oud.
So, as we're all getting closer to the Most Consumerist Time of the Year™ (read: the Christmas holiday period), wish lists are being put together, and presents are being purchased and lovingly wrapped.
I'm curious: Are you planning to gift fragrance to your beloved ones, or putting something down on a list to Santa for yourself this year?
I'm planning to purchase Malibu - Party in the Bay by Simone Andreoli for my significant other (whose birthday is also between Xmas and New Year...) as decants are running precariously low and it is such a great scent.
As for Father Christmas... I may or may not ask for a bottle of Ex Idolo's Ryder. Haven't decided yet. It's the first oriental amber I feel I could live with, but maybe I should sample other such scents first (Ambre Loup and Au Coeur du Desert come to mind).
What about you?

Not giving or receiving any fragrances this year. Trying to take it easy and enjoy what I have. Only purchased 1 fragrance this past year. Don't want to relapse.![]()
My mom likes gardening, especially her rose bushes, so I'm planning to give her Auphorie's L'anima della rosa.
I always get my sons two bottles for Christmas. Usually a couple cheapies they can use up and it won't cost much. This year, I think I'm going to get them a nicer bottle and then a cheapie to use more regularly. I haven't decided on which cologne to go with yet.
"Ducks eat for free at Subway."
Dad: He's been known to buy garbage alcohol ridden cheapies at mall kiosks. He's been dropping hints at wanting to borrow some of the stuff i wear. Gifting him Tom Ford Grey Vetiver because i think it's a nice quality, nice smelling "go anywhere do anything" type of scent (aka dumb reach).
Lady Friend: I left a sample of Oud Extrait at her apartment one time and she sent me the most obnoxious string of texts saying how much she loved it. Going to use the MFK engraving service that they offer on their website to get her initials engraved in a full bottle of MFK Oud Extrait. I think that'll be pretty cool
Don't stank.
Not receiving anything this holiday season except what I buy myself, but will be giving a few fragrances to some of my interested grandchildren.

Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
Luckily, the local mall does provide a quite diverse and fine selection of designer, even a few niche choices and with Black Friday and/or Christmas sales upcoming, even if not having chosen anything yet, there is both enough time and offers to find something.
Receive-not expecting anything, yet if it will happen, the fragrance will be appreciated as long as the fragrance is in a fairly classic style, irrespective of any house, price category, note of this.
Not sure if there's anything I'll put on the listing terms of a full bottle (what's happening to me?), but I'm planning to gift myself some scented candles from a perfume brand to try. I never like scented candles (the IKEA candle department is the one IKEA department I run through as fast as I can, sheer hell, I find it), but I tried a Atelier Cologne Oolong Infini candle recently and that one I loved. I'll visit London soon and will hop into Ormonde Jayne to see what their candles are like. I think some of their woody scents would make excellent candles.
Really? I’ve had a few emails advertising Christmas shopping from some of the craziest stores since late August, but I honestly don’t know anyone that has started their shopping even now in early November.
That said my dad almost always gets some like TdH from me. This year though I will be getting him a gift set from AdP which he has also worn and likes in the past.

I never receive fragrance as gifts everyone who knows me would not dream of it.
I get money to buy what I want and bottles of wine.
I don't buy fragrance as gifts either, but have bought some Molton Brown mixed shower/bath gel sets as gifts.
DONNA
I have only a few people on my gift list for whom perfume would be appropriate (mostly co-workers), and this year I'm giving them discovery sets from American indie perfumers: Rogue, January Scent Project, Imaginary Authors and Zoologist.
On the receiving end, the only thing I truly covet would be a backup bottle of original Sycomore EDT... but I don't think I know anybody who loves me that much.![]()
I'm not asking for anything. I've got plenty to wear. Don't need to give my man anything. Lately, he's been wearing a few things I already have, namely Vetiverus by Oliver & Co.

Grunge is dead... Long live Grunge...
I have a few fragrances on my wish list that I'll gift to myself - at least Galimard Aventure.
And will be gifting some to people I care about
I am giving some of my nieces and god-daughters discovery sets
from Sylvaine Delacourte.
I have also purchased a set of Penhaligons sampes for my sister and
her partner to share.
I usually buy my two sons a botte of after-shave each (despite them both have beards
at the moment!) One likes Terre d'Hermes and the other anything by Hugo Boss.
A woman without perfume is like a flower without a scent.
Nothing

I already have a small travel bottle of Eclat d'Arpege by Lanvin for my mom - it's one of her favourites and she's gone through several bottles of it, so why not give her an opportunity to wear it anytime, anywhere.
I'm not asking for anything and not expecting anything. But if anyone would gift me a perfume, it will be treasured and worn at least from time to time to remind me of that person.![]()
HOPEFULLY receiving fly fishing gear, which is what i want. Im a big fisherman and decided that is a new thing i want to take up next year. I dont need any more fragrances right now, and if i do i will just buy them myself rather than try to explain to someone that amount i pay for one bottle lol.
My wife told me, do not buy her any perfumes. she has enough samples right now pretty much for all of next year, plus the fragrances she has full bottles of. Instead she said she likes candles that smell like guy smells and maybe room spray, so that is what shes getting. Diptyque candle, Tauer LADDM candle, a Boy Smells candle, and a Diptyque room spray. Hope she likes them.
