The Boclet is very good and is indeed close to TR. The Boclet has a slightly different balance with a strong emphasis on dried fruits. I don't think Boclet Tobacco is compositionally as well-structured as Tabac Rouge, but the ingredient quality is just as excellent.

    What about dayum son?

Or my personal favorite: "Oh dip"?

In all seriousness, I came here to say Tabac Rouge sounds lovely, but I couldn't resist lightening the mood.

Is it a spinach artichoke dip? I like to lie to myself & say the spinach artichoke dip at a nearby pub is healthy, because spinach! And artichokes! ...I know, I know... but don't say it.

    It really is.

Tabac Rouge was probably my favorite discovery in 2019, which is silly since I'd had a sample in my collection for a few years, but for whatever reason, it didn't click with me until this year. And when it finally clicked, it really clicked.

I Tabac Rouge is outstanding, not just because of how it smells, though it does smell fantastic. It's also outstanding because of how it wears. It's very long lasting, but with only moderate projection. That's perfect for a scent like this. It's quite gentlemanly, but with more of a rugged edge than something like 1725 (I'm not suggesting the two smell anything alike. I'm only talking in terms of personality and style).

Give M.A.C. Velvet Teddy a look, then. It's another option in the same vein that's still very high-quality and is a fraction of the cost.

    Yes.

Owned by Estee Lauder, which also manages Tom Ford, among other brands. The Shadescents line was a (failed) attempt to market niche-y creations to consumers of M.A.C. cosmetics. A strange line with very unusual compositions, but equivalent to Tom Ford Private Blend in ingredient quality. Tom Ford even seems to have reworked one of the Shadescents line when it released Noir Anthracite.

The one I'm recommending here, Velvet Teddy, seems to have used Tobacco Vanille as a starting point, but strips out some of the more "Christmas candle" aspects. It has a more "wild honey" aspect. I think it's pretty great, not *quite* as nice as Phaedon Tabac Rouge or Boclet Tobacco, but still nicer and more complex than Tobacco Vanille.

It failed to impress me, it's OK, but quite linear, sweet honey and benzoin that lasts for more than 12 hours, I got bored of it.

This thread is the best combination of quality content and comedy I've seen on here in a while. Such a great, in-depth write up of a fragrance, and I was expecting some thoughtful reactions to it. Instead we immediately get a terse, wildly off-topic bit of tut-tutting. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it.

Back on topic, you've convinced me to get a decent of this. I'm still searching for the right sweet tobacco scent for me. Pure Havane is nice, but doesn't really scratch this itch for me. I have a sample of Mancera Red Tobacco I'm still working thru. I have Al Haramain Amber Oud as well. Hope the Phaedon is what I'm searching for!

I think it is quite nice, and if I didn't already own Amber Oud and Pure Havane I would consider buying it. Trying to keep my collection somewhat reasonably sized, so I feel like I only have space for one more tobacco fragrance in my wardrobe. I'm going to keep sampling and hope to find something I like better, but this is a very nice one. It's a well-behaved and easy to wear sweet tobacco scent, with a touch of depth and character that keeps it from becoming cloying or overbearing. Fragrancenet has samples come into stock pretty frequently, which is wear I got mine for pretty cheap.

I was gonna swap my Líartisan Dzongka +Lalique Encre Noire Extreme for this with a Canadian on here, former package caught with customs duty...sh*t show went on, weeks later me ended up paying ups, lost Dzongka however he received Lalique for free(said pay me when he had cash in pockets), and....still no Tabac Rouge.
So....i hope it is actually good!

Dang I am getting the impression that there were deleted posts or something here, because Buysblind, one of my favorite members on this site is now listed as "banned", along with several other members. What happened, I wonder?

Tabac Rouge is sitting on my "to sample" list because I like Tobacco Vanille but have always found it... too powerful? To actually wear

What the...?!? You're right. How in the heck did HE get banned, especially since it was a mod who said:

I dunno why Buysblind got banned, I follow most of his content on here, and found nothing he said to be ban worthy. He had a small debacle with City who likes to antagonize people (which was really sad for a 45 year old man to act that way), I found nothing offensive on Buysblind part and nothing worthy of a ban. Perhaps a mod could elaborate or PM me what happened, after all, this is his topic, and he should be able to communicate with the people. I was following this topic waiting to see back and forth discussion and new opinions, to see if it was enough to influence me myself, into buying it. I see City has been following Buysblind to his posts and antagonizing him. I'm sure others have noticed this too. I'd like to ask the mods to please read the context of their dialog back and forth.

Or I ask the mods to please re-check if a mistake was made. I really have no interest in this topic now without the OP here.
