Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Sunday, 10th November, 2019

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Good morning all !. Blue skies at last . It seems incredible that we were praying for rain only a few weeks ago. There are flood warnings everywhere and some areas have been completely deluged. My heart bleeds for those who have had their homes ruined.

We could certainly use the rain ourselves here in California. The wildfires due to the dry air, low humidity , and moderate warm weather are still present. It's unfortunate to hear other regions are getting bombarded by flooding conditions at the same time.

Good morning everyone Outside it still looks like a Christmascard. Trees covered in snow and sunny. In about 10 days the sun will go under the horizon. I was in the mood for Chypre Siam so that is my sotd.

    Hello all,

Today, I’m wearing Terre d’Hermes Vetiver. Yesterday’s application is still smoldering and it smells so damn good! I use lots of sprays!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

More wintry spices today in Tea For Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur (thanks, Trilby!). Very Christmassy, but much lighter than scents of that school usually are. Transparent, even. Cozy, but in ballet slippers rather than boots.

Helmut Lang Eau de Cologne (2000)

I have both the 2000 and reissued 2014. But this is the 2000 formulation in the original bottle. I’m down to mLs and that’s kinda sad. However, back in the Autumn of 2009 I scored a great deal on 25 samples of EdC and 17 of EdP, each in their original packaging with, yes, their little toilettes.

I could never put this entry into the “Today I’m particularly enjoying...” thread because that would be a false flag for me. It’s disingenuity due to the fact I’m always enjoying this so, so much. Every time, beyond the realm of “particularly” in the sense it could ever be an “Oh yeah” standout from any other time I’ve worn it. Helmut Lang EdC changed the fragrance game for me personally.

The 2014 reissue isn’t bad, just a hair away. However, I might give the 2014 reissue of EdP a few hairs up. Why? - because (for a male anyway) it feels lifted more into a natural unisex territory. Definitely less of a feminine bent, to the point I would suggest those who are comparing the 2014 EdC to the EdP to give requisite attention to both in their testing.

It's overcast and cold, and I've got to return some library books ahead of the holiday tomorrow and I want to bake something with dates this afternoon. I always think of dates as fall food, probably because everything turns out spicy and brown.

I'm wearing vintage Tatiana today. I swapped my Malle Une Fleur de Cassie for it at the Portland Sniffa. In my late teens/early twenties, I went through a couple of bottles. The top notes hold a hint of acetone but otherwise the scent is intact.
