Car enthusiasts don't probably talk much about the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry but no one can deny that they're really decent, best selling cars that will do exactly what they're designed for, for many many years.. so, it's a good question, but the answer doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of the product. It's been discussed to death, it is what it is, so really what's more to say?

    Agree

Honestly as a person who loves designers, especially this style of scent....I never got this. Just did nothing on me or for me.

Few people mentioned The One Gentleman, which reminds me how much it's not bad at all. Under-rated and off the radar mostly, at least what I've noticed. Very spicy and strong, at least on my skin. Most certainly worthy of attention.

I still think its awesome. Im of the opinion though that the EDT actually smells better than the EDP. I dunno what it is for sure since I know a lot of people talk about skin chemistry but I think people also can forget, just the smell of the air around us can effect how a fragrance smells, fall has a smell, summer has a smell, the smell of winter in the air etc. But whatever the case the EDT just tends to have days where it smells better to me more so than the EDP ever does.

For what its worth I know when i went to japan recently again, I went and I did a couple sprays at the duty free, and 13 hours later after I got off the plan I could still smell myself and it was the EDT. And I brought a old original Travel atomizer of it and wore that a few times as well and its lasted me all day. So I know the fragrance has been reformulated a few times even just looking at the ingredients, im still worried when i finally run out of my original bottle , what this back up bottle I bought years ago is gonna smell like or is gonna be one of these that performs badly like some others get.

Anyway ya still good to me if I had to keep only 10 of the fragrances in my collection it would still be there

I was kinda upset that you didn't dig Viking. But since you love D&G The One, you've redeemed yourself.

Way too mainstream and aimed to please the masses.
My brother liked it and we would argue about fragrances all the time he hated all the fragrances i liked (amen le male pi).we we both loved nightflight however...
Anyway i never bought the one but i loved pour homme (still do) and By. Those two are way better and im pretty sure the one has crap longevity from what i remember.

I haven't smelled Aventus Cologne either. I'm a bit disappointed that Creed engaged in a flanker, which, IMO, is tacky. I'll still give it a whiff, but it would have to be something spectacular to get me to buy it.

While unaware about the opinions of enthusiasts or of pretty much anyone else about this fragrance and its relevance (apart perhaps certain very general and imprecise observations about certain trends very difficult to follow and/or point out) can only speak for myself, personally not considering this fragrance having worsened, lost or decreased not just its performance and better notes, but also the potential to be appreciated.

Apart from this, might imagine or envision that this fragrance could likely remain a fairly steady bestseller-perhaps without No. 5, Aventus etc. heights of both sales figures and critical acclaim at once-but also without any total obscurity, dramatic loss of relevance and/or of profitability.

Overall, I think The ONE still gets plenty of attention. It's still talked about and a thread about it will usually pop up every month or so. So I would say that's pretty good, considering it's been around now for, what, almost 12 years? It's a staple of the decade.

The One Grey might be the one that fades fast from acknowledgement, doesn’t really bring anything that hasn’t already been done and definitely doesn’t outdo The One EDT/EDP.

If they ever managed to make The One with some good performance, I would be on board. Great scent, but D&G is incapable of making frags with good performance.

K, from the three or four times I've sampled, gives me pretty good performance and longevity. Maybe D&G is turning it around.

I wore it as my daytime scent from around 2012ish to maybe 2015ish off an on. More on than off though. It's good - it's a scent for people who don't rotate their fragrances. To most people it will be 'boring', and I don't think it's stunning, but it's a good 'part of the furniture' masculine scent. A great foil to the original.

The performance wasn't an issue in my opinion. Just overspray to get a bit 'more' in the first 2 hours, and maybe an extra 1-2 hours' longevity. It's cheap enough. I thought it was just shy of ideal in its performance - a touch more projection and longevity and it would be the ideal evening scent.

This thread has reminded me that I really miss wearing it, actually.

The One EDT was my signature scent in the late 2000s, so I'm a bit over it. It's pretty common these days to run into another person wearing it. That said, I did purchase the EDP just to have it should the occasional craving arise.

I like it a lot, and whilst it's not as talked about as other fragrances lately (it's been out for over 10 years after all), it's a future classic for sure. It's very well put together and incredibly easy to love.

I do understand the complaints about the lack of projection and longevity, but in my opinion, this scent really doesn't need more oomph. In the eye (or nose...?) of my mind, this is the perfect scent for dates or lounging around with your significant other. You don't want to clobber anyone with an annoying fragrance if you are out for a meal, or up close and intimate. There is a time and space for fragrances that don't leave a 10 foot trail, and The One is perfectly suited for these occasions.

I've had a bottle in my collection ever since it came out, and I'm on my last dregs. As much as I like the scent - and I will revisit it in the future - a bottle of Cartier's L'Envol EdP has taken its place for now.

I have to give the EDT credit for pulling me back in the fragrance game. About a year after it was released, I sniffed a sample ad from a men's magazine while waiting in the barbershop. I immediately went out and purchased it after the haircut. Prior to that, I hadn't purchased a fragrance since the late 90's. I still own the bottle with around a quarter juice left. I tend to overlook it now with so many options in my arsenal. Wore it last Sunday and was reminded of how subtle it is. Wife really likes it though.

This may sound like a Seinfeld bit but does it seem odd to anyone that D&G The One has flankers? I thought it was 'The One'. If it's the ONE, why did they keep having to make variations of it?
