Default Top Ten Weak Fragrances You Wish Would Last Longer

We've had numerous threads, reviews, posts about beast-mode fragrances but no-one ever mentions the weakling fragrances (poor longevity and poor projection). Here are a few honourable mentions:

Fort and Manlé - Fatih Sultan Mehmed (Such a beautiful and stunning composition, but alas, 2 hours and it's gone!)

L'Occitane - Eau de Cedrat (Many L'Occitane fragrances would make this list)

Dior - Eau Sauvage (Parfum and Extreme versions released to resolve this problem)

Tom Ford - Neroli Portofino (Attempt to strengthen it with the Forte version have only slightly improved it)

    Guerlain - Homme Guerlain

Chanel - Allure Homme Édition Blanche

    CK One - Gold

    4711 - Original Eau de Cologne 4711

Hugo Boss - Boss The Scent (A lot of Hugo Boss fragrances would make this list)

Mugler A*Men Pure Malt (Latest batches, did not last for me whatsoever, I think the earlier batches are possibly more potent)

One I personally wish would last longer is Santal Colada by Thierry Blondeau.

There's a Chanel Sport Edition Blanche?

And yeah, Boss the Scent is the worst of all the Hugo Boss scents. It's Intense version is a little better and the Parfum version is only slightly better as well.

I would pay absurd sums to have a concentrated version of either of these two.

Tauer Les Annees 25 for me. Perhaps it's just my nose, but I can barely smell it after a short time.

For me, personally, Creed Erolfa. I'd definitely have a bottle and wear it frequently if it lasted a few hours. Of course, you mileage may vary from mine.

Oh man, how could this not have been the first one mentioned? If JV ever figures out how to make his stuff last more than 30 minutes, I could easily rely on his line alone and be pretty happy.

Haha that was exactly my thoughts when I read the OP's list. John Varvatos!! They make some very nice smelling stuff, but none of it lasts more than an hour or two

Another would be Mr. Blass by Bill Blass. Love the scent, but the longevity keeps it from being a frequent reach.

Among others, in no particular order (liking the scent but would prefer additional performance of each)

Comme un Evidence by Yves Rocher
Comme un Evidence Green by the same house
    Zara Sport PH
Cartier Santos EDT (current version, so far the vintage seemed to last anywhere in between better and much better)
Ungaro III (same issue with the current version as with Santos)
    XXL by Daniel Hechter
    Sir Irisch Moos
    Guy Laroche Horizon
    Krizia Uomo
    Sander for Men

most or even all of these fragrances being among the ones would totally rate anywhere between good to even great, if only the performance of each would be better

I know--hard to believe, huh? I'd blow a couple years' worth of perfume money for a really concentrated version of either of these two.

I agree with BdI in parfum, I find it too weak.

Surprisingly, I'm fine with the lasting power of pretty much everything I own. I just had to get over the fact that some are meant to last, and some aren't (Guerlain colognes, for example). Everything has its place.

I’m not certain I can list 10 fragrances here. But I’ve kept this list personal and to things I’ll (most likely) continue to reach for.

    (1) Helmut Lang Eau de Cologne (2000, 2014) - One of my absolute favourites since I began. Since the beginning and through the re-issue this has been such a conflicting part of this juice’s personality. It’s akin to someone you love so truly and deeply, yet are always mindful of an aggravating trait that won’t be remedied. You’re in love but it lives in the sub-conscience. It was because of Helmut Lang EdC that I acquired an small travel atomizer early on in my hobby. But the love is too real and I cannot let it go. For the 2014 re-issue there was notable change: While the EdC thankfully remained within a hair of the original scent (though longevity is similar), the EdP moved more into the spectrum of a unisex scent, whereas before it was veritably more feminine. This was a small saving grace as performance improved, though it must be noted that, in Helmut Lang parlance, the EdP is not just a stronger version of EdC; there are some small differences. But I’ll take what I can get. C’est la vie! #Can’tLetGo

A handful of other notable well-loved weakies for me, and consequently a growing atomizer game:

    (2) Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
    (3) Bois 1920 Classic 1920
    (4) Bottega Veneta Bottega Veneta Pour Homme
    (5) John Varvatos Vintage

And now to address that Jean-Claude Ellena watercolour thingamajig. I love these but feel bad about it because it’s akin to shooting fish in a barrel to even mention it:

    (6) Hèrmes Hèrmessence Vétiver Tonka
    (7) Hèrmes Voyage d’Hèrmes
    (8) Hèrmes TdH Eau Fraiche - word on the street is that I should be trying Eau d’Orange Verte; while lovely some say the original is still too weak, and the Concentré too different

    JCE!! . . . argh.

Okay, I think I’ll leave my list at that.

I find Neroli Portofino acceptable because there’s only so much you can do with short lived notes like Neroli. Guerlain Homme’s performance is fine on me. Around average on the scale, unless one wants the mint and lime notes from the opening to hang around prominently forever.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

    Burberry London
    John Varvatos
    Varvatos Vintage
    D&G The One
    Fougere d'Argent
    Eau Sauvage

That's all I can really think of that the performance is a significant factor in whether I'd buy it. I don't really think of myself as having much problem with longevity in general, and get a decent amount from the quality fragrances that I try. Often culprits of this are bargain bin trash that is just made too weak, or ignored basenotes.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.
