The visual inspiration for GOLD has been the 'The Metallized Mondriaan' above (created by Mr. Vos).

These are some thoughts from my Wife, and I’m Ken by the way. She felt the need to interject her thoughts on GOLD, and I acquiesced since I still want to be married.
This is going to ramble a bit. You already know I do, but now you can meet my Wife - Judy.
She applied 3 sprays.
Judy says: OMG this perfume smells different than anything else you have, and I mean that in a good way. It’s so PLEASANT is hard to describe. Not just a little pleasant but pleasant in spades, like oozing class. I love the benzoin. I smell something green, but not really green. This perfume really affects me emotionally like no other. It has a sensuality about it. Not sexy like she wants sex, but sensual feeling.
GOLD follows you around cocooning you with its smell. Not heady or in your face. Sillage is about three feet, and doesn’t leave a trail, but does follow you. This wonderful smell follows you around letting off wafts for hours, and it’s still there in the morning.
GOLD has an emotional impact most other perfumes omit, filling in the gaps others have missed. Not at all that masculine smelling. Not necessarily feminine either. Genderless she says. Judy says she likes it better on her, than me.(I think she says that so she feels she doesn't have to share a bottle with me) In her "special voice"Judy says I haven’t gotten any new perfume for me in five years, and I want a bottle of this GOLD.
Puredistance release statement of “A RICH & HARMONIOUS FUSION OF GOLD TONES” actually has been accomplished . Gold is rich, warm, and harmonious. The shading of golds really fulfills the ying and yang philosophy. Balanced to the nth degree.
Judy and I spent 3 days in a row wearing GOLD now. We discussed what star rating we should give it. We came up with 5.5 stars. The extra .5 is given because of the unique ability to make you feel the perfume, rather than just smell it. Other perfumes have had an emotional impact, but GOLG just reset the bar. Truly a master perfume, fit for royalty, and for those of us who want to feel like royalty. GOLD is a very special perfume that should be on your must sample list. Can be worn with anything from torn jeans to tuxedo, or evening gowns. Seasonless - can be worn all year.
There you go. It’s me Ken, and I’m off to get Judy a bottle of GOLD for Christmas. Like I said, I still want to be married.
A word from thebeck - Antoine Lie really upped his game with GOLD.
UPDATE: 11/14 - Just got back from the grocery store. I wasn't in there 5 minutes and a 30 year old female employee came up to me and said " Ken, you smell really really good today" I asked if she could describe what she smelled. She said, I really can't explain it, but you just smell good. A 68 year old man like myself always enjoys a nice comment from a young lady.
I love it. Instead of smelling woody, oudy, clean, smokey, etc... - you just smell good.
UPDATE: 11/17 - Bottle purchased

Interesting that Antoine Lie did this, as he already did an interpretation of "gold" for Comme des Garcon's 888.
The notes look good and I certainly trust your nose Ken, but I have had horrific luck with Mr. Lie’s compositions, with my two most loathed compositions being composed by him. I saw his name as perfumer, and immediately had to stifle my first instinct to run for the hills... Darn, I guess I will have to at least give this one a sniff now... but I need to build up my courage first.
Current Top Ten:
1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie
2) Giorgio V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie
4) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
5) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
6) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
7) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
7) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
7) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
7) Polo vintage (Ralph Lauren) - tie
I do understand Antoine Lie has some challenging scents out there. GOLD definitely is a change in direction for him, and I must say a most welcomed one.
I know you'll understand what I'm going to say. The Antoine Lie's you loathe are transistors and GOLD is vacuum tubes. Worlds apart.
I own 6/49 scents by this guy. One is a big fave. Could be a winner.

Sounds interesting, will keep an eye out for sampling possibilities. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!
I must confess! Creed SAs gave me samples. After big purchases! And an empty tester when nobody was looking! Emmanuelments!
Seriously, I own maybe 1/3 of the entire lineup. Never calculated it, but I do have a bunch. All in my wardrobe. Bet the fraction is close to the number of Hermès scents for me. More than Guerlain.

Really appreciate such a compelling assessment, Ken
My thoughts on the perfumer are exactly the same as drseid but I am happy to cast prejudice aside as this really sounds intriguing.
Sounds like a terrific scent. I don’t care for the brand’s naming convention though for it tells me nothing. I’d like to sample this of course but unlikely to get a bottle. The brand evokes some residual negativity for me. No thanks to a snooty SA who pointed out how expensive the Puredistance line is. Ha! If only she knew just how much I’d spent on fragrances she might still be counting her commissions today lol. But that incident made me feel like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman. “Big mistake...”
Btw between GOLD and AENOTUS, which do you prefer?

Sounds very nice.

I don't believe all the brickbats AL is receiving -- he is a genius imo
From Armani Code (a full-on blockbuster) to Secretions Magnifiques (horrible, but, arguably a masterpiece), this guy is super skilful
I'm looking forward to trying Gold very much
I have difficulty with the synthetic aroma chemical-heavy style that Lie tends to adhere to. The only one of his I can stand is Ma Bete.
Sounds good.

Took them awhile to get it on their site, but finally LS has bottles and samples available. Just ordered a sample, so will report back with my thoughts in a week or so.

Got a 5 ml decant coming from Strifeknot, excited to give this one a try!
I just tried a sample of this and it’s really nice. The way my mind works with first impressions is that I immediately try to associate the scent with something I previously tried or own. In this case, this fragrance very much reminds me of Clive Christian No 1 for men in feel, and perhaps even somewhat is smell. I do own Clive Christian No. 1 but I am considering purchasing this fragrance as well as while they are similar, I think they are different enough to warrant separate purchases. And as others have mentioned - it does smell like what one might imagine gold would smell like if it had a scent. It’s also powdery to my nose. Generally I hate powdery fragrances, but I like it here.
