Default Tom Ford - Top 5?

Iíve always seen a lot of love for fragrances from Tom Ford across the community but Iím embarrassed to say Iíve actually never given any of them a try.... so, for someone looking to dive into this house which would you say are the ďtop 5Ē to try first?
My Top 6 Most Complimented of 2019:-

    1). Eros Flame - Versace
    2). Sauvage - Dior
    3). Líhomme - Lacoste
    4). Aventus - Creed
5). Allure Homme Sport - Chanel
    6), Tommy - Tommy Hilfiger
    Currently wearing: Aventus by Creed

Tom Ford for Men Extreme (2007) may be the best masculine the house released, so give it a try.

In recent years, Tom Ford Noir Anthracite (2017) has been the standout.

To get a feel for the house, be sure to sniff the following iconic releases: Black Orchid, Tobacco Vanille, and Tuscan Leather. I don't like any of them, but they're all distinctive releases and helped build the house's reputation.

To me, there are way more misses than hits from this brand. Not too many negatives, but far too many ones for which you'd find something along similar lines but done much better. Sahara Noir was very good, but let's forget about it since it is gone for good. Here are my top five picks among the extant ones -

Vert des Bois - Very nice, with good depth; one of the best green scents around.
Tuscan Leather - This is among the best in its style, and apparently this is the one that started it all.
Noir de Noir - A delicious rose-chocolate-patchouli. It has changed, but still excellent. Probably the best-smelling perfume from Tom Ford.
Tobacco Oud - A nice woody fragrance with aromatic notes of tobacco. Too many tobacco fragrances are too sweet, this one isn't. Tobacco Vanille, if you prefer sweetness.
Black Orchid - Still nothing else like it out there. Probably the most classic release from Tom Ford.

In terms of representativeness, I'd say Tuscan Leather and Tobacco Vanille (respectively a modern leather and a sweet gourmand), plus oud wood (but I think there are better western ouds around-but simply, TF was the first big brand to push the genre). The one I find more unique and interesting is perhaps Noir de Noir. Sahara Noir was an outstanding one that has sadly been discontinued.

I just did a sample thread here, so my thoughts are fairly all pretty well documented there, and in the reviews of the fragrances mentioned. But here is it anyway.
    1. Ombre Leather - This is my favorite from the brand by a pretty wide margin at this point.

    2. Noir Anthracite - Kind of a concept fragrance that is stands out this day and age among designers. I could understand arguments that it is boring, doesn't develop and such. I like that it is a dry overt masculine devoid of sweetness. This is not trying to please anybody.

    3. Tom Ford for men Extreme - Rumors of brevity, I have not worn it enough to really comment there, but it is a very interesting fragrance, with a fairly well rounded construction.

    4. Beau de Jour - Only thing keeping me from purchasing this is the Signiture rumors... and maybe Zino

    5. Tuscan Leather - Probably the best smelling thing here, if it didn't smell so much like cocaine.

I'd wander off the beaten path and try these for something slightly different:

    Ombre Leather
    Plum Japonais
    Santal Blush
    Vert d'Encens
    Bois Marocain

Bonus: Oud Wood Intense, but only if you like animalics

Without particular order, based on personal tastes alone and also with little or no gender or market segment divide:

Grey Vetiver EDP, Man and Man Extreme, Noir de Noir, almost any fragrance within the Neroli Portofino range
Currently wearing: Baobab by Tesori d'Oriente

As you may be seeing, in a few more postings you will get the whole house collection. I wont add to the list, you already have plenty. I am a bigger fan of Creed. Ok , I will add Tobacco Vanilla & Oud Wood.

Do you have a preference for the 16 or 18 version?

Man! I used to hate that stuff. Then, as I sniffed it more and more, I started to love it. I started to CRAVE it. Before I knew what happened, I was strung out on Tuscan Leather. 3am, empty bottle, desperately scanning the "Splits" forum for anybody willing to ship decants overnight. I'd spend my whole paycheck on a 50ml bottle and it'd be gone before the end of the week! Seriously though I love TL

Lol. I love a good allegory. And I do not have any experience with the 16. I'll probably try it at some point, just for the sake of curiosity. I like the presentation of the 18 quite a bit, besides the cap. It should have been magnetic, or at least click into place. As it is, eh. But it is pleasing in the hand, has good weight, easily usable. The simple matte black with the cutout filled with printed on leather. Tis good.

OL16 is rounder and deeper than OL18, leaning a touch more formal and/or feminine. They're not worlds apart, but OL16 has a violet note that OL18 doesn't, and, accordingly, OL16 isn't quite as dry as OL18. It's not worth unicorn pricing to seek out, but I do prefer OL16.
