Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I am going scentless for an afternoon rehearsal then wearing
Evening Edged in Gold for the actual concert tonight.

It was so cold in the Abbey last year that I am really hoping they
will have sorted out the heating.

Recipe for a perfect rainy day: flannel pajamas, big pot of tea, buttered scones, engrossing book and two movies on deck, and a new kitten who's chasing the raindrops on the windowpane.

Plus, for the third day this week, Tea for Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur. Methinks I am besotted.

ConCATulations on your kitten Cook.bot! Wishing you many happy years together.

I was traumatized this morning by the horrid sample of Bogue Douleur I tried. Quite possibly the worst thing I’ve ever smelled. It even made the dog vomit. :-0

Scrubbed and put on a lethal dose of Profumum Rosae Mundi to kill the persistent stench.

Lol! Cracking up at your entire post, cazaubon! They have a hilarious Douleur thread going in GFD; you should share your experience there, too! Hope you and the dog recover quickly! Nope, don't care to try this one, I don't believe.

And I'd like to second the conCATulations! Soo jealous, C.b! Hope to join you with a new baby of my own (or three), in the new year.

Break a leg, kewart! No doubts you'll all sound beautiful!

Another L'Artisan here, Safran Troublant for me. Happy weekend, all!

So many (mostly) great things going on for folks today - The "mostly" is due to cazaubon's vomiting cat... :eep:

Two samples today, one on each hand: On the right, Xerjoff 1861 Naxos, and on the left, Maison Louis Marie's No. 04 Bois de Balincourt.

Unfortunately (well, maybe fortunately for my bank account), neither one is what I was expecting, nor hitting the spot for me today. The Naxos is throwing off "eucalyptus" at me even though there's none in there, and I'm getting almost exclusively vetiver from the No. 4. Of course, it's also possible that I'm getting a cold, so my whole sniffer could be just plain off.

    Spectacular Saturday, everyone!

XJ 1861 Naxos fragrance notes: Citrus notes, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Honey.

No. 04 Bois de Balincourt fragrance notes: Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Amber wood.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

Thank you, but I can't say I recommend it. Mine have always been adult rescues, and I'd forgotten what maniacs kittens are -- 50% adorable and 50% pain in the butt. We're in the middle of the 'Hands and Ankles Are Not For Biting' training.

Cook.bot, kitty craziness is the reason I adopted an adult cat. Many years ago one of my kittens leaped off the top of a bookshelf onto my head and dug in all 20 claws to stay on. I've never forgotten it and my kitten fix is adequately addressed every Wednesday at the shelter. I hope your kitty is better behaved!

I'm wearing Cuir Cannage today. I went out yesterday to the butcher and got a duck for Thanksgiving. I thought it would be a nice change from turkey.
