    Default Common n Cheap

    Hello everyone

(i don't know if here are the best place to put this question)

Recently i read a fragrantica article about popular perfumes in different countries (The article is not very recent).
But the descriptions are much general, only about a perfume by country.
Now I'm curious, and to aprofundates, I ask:

Wich fragrances are popular in your country ? I'm asking about cheap, very very popular perfumes (body sprays too), not only moderns, but vintages too (I'm more interested at theses), grandpa/grandma fragrances, adolescent commons, after shaves, old ladies, mother's dressing table ... popular.

Things like chanel, guerlain etc, are out of question. I ask about like old spice, brut, tabu, rexona, axe, Avon ...

Same if you literally hate certain fragrances, don't let to mention, don't be shy. Different regions of a same country have other styles, taste...

Well, i don't live in USA, n that may sound silly, but is a curiosity

I the U.S., I'm not sure if I would say Brut or Old Spice are popular. Axe is popular to a certain extent, but only to the teenage crowd or to anyone who doesn't know what they're doing or refuses to pay more than $4 to smell good.

    In the US:

    Popular common older masculines:

    Old Spice by Shulton (1937)
    Brut by Fabergé (1964)
    Wild Country by Avon (1967)
    Canoe by Dana (1936)
    English Leather by MEM (1949)
    Pino Silvestri by Vidal (1955)
    British Sterling by Speidel (1965)
    Jovan Musk (1973)
    Stetson by Coty (1981)
    Cool Water by Davidoff (1988)

    Popular common newer masculines

    Preferred Stock by Coty (1990)
    Avon Mesmerize for Men (1992)
Curve for Men by Liz Claiborne (1996)
Lucky You by Lucky Brand Jeans (1999)
    Nautica Blue by Nautica (2006)
    Anything Axe, Tag, or BOD.

Although tbh "popular" is relative term because most guys here serious about fragrance will spend the money for at least a designer brand like Dior or Versace and just use it only on nights out. They'll just make do with an aftershave or a body spray otherwise.

Popular in my country, but not necessarily among the cheapest, nor common, definitely not bad either, in no particular order:

Le Male, Fahrenheit, ADG, Bleu de Chanel, Eau d'Issey, (while still being in production and readily available, perhaps less so now) M7, One Million, mostly regular AMen and less frequently but still reasonably popular, its various flankers, Cool Water, Sculpture by Nikos

cheaper and selling quite well, partly due to being readily available nearly anywhere:

various Hugo Boss fragrances, the omnipresent Axe and/or Denim variations, various CK scents, BU, Chanson d'Eau, Impulse and Vanderbilt among the feminines, along with more comparable and priced similarly to these

Acqua Di Gio and Bleu De Chanel are still popular here.

    Common but not cheap, lol

The Kenneth Cole line is pretty common and cheap. Gift sets this time of year can be had for 20 bucks.

Just my bias ( Oldster 80's Vintage Wingnut Society)
Your first list, pre 2000 I would prefer to call Inexpensive VS Cheap.
and add Vintage Jovan Sex Appeal, Monsieur Houbigant.

I almost included Sex Appeal but the Musk is the one I've always smelled/seen more. As for Monsieur Houbigant/Monsieur Musk, never seen anyone rock that one besides Basenoters and myself, so I don't think it's part of the popular/common set anymore. *shrugs*

I remember Axe fondly. I was a teenager and I did buy it becuase Ididnt have more than $10 bucks in my pocket and half was in coins. Good ol' days.

I would add CK perfumes to the list.

    Cheap & available here:

A couple from Jovan (Musk) & Dana (Canoe) that I often spot even in neighbourhood sundry shops although I have never seen anyone picking one up to test or even to buy. Makes me wonder who actually buys them.

Also mostly mediocre stuff from the likes of :
    Nautica
    Kenneth Cole
    David Beckham

    Thanks by all answers !

That's true axe is popular among teenagers.

I expected fragrances justly Zealot Crusader has mentioned for USA.

I'm very curious over others countries, especially france, UK, italy... hey basenoters don't be shy

What about old womans, common old mothers ? Also i ask about a popular but minor perfumeries,
perfumes you buy in a drugstore, or in a local market so easy.
