I can always count on you to make me aware of more wonderful things to investigate. To be honest, I don't really get much peach from Ms. Mitsy, but academically I know that is something that set her apart from other scents at the time, so it was perfect for the synch.

Ever heard of the Guerlain Trunk Show? It was a exclusive event held at Neiman's sometime ago. A lot exclusive bottles were available including Sous Le Vent and Vega. I do regret not participating in the event.

Top: pineapple, mandarin orange, apple, bergamot, rosewood, lemon, papaya flower and rhubarb

Middle: cyclamen, apricot, carnation, cinnamon, orchid, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and rose

Base: sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, patchouli, musk, vanilla and vetiver

I've learned of this scent recently never tried it unfortunately. In fact it was on a very old LIFE magazine display from the 1940s.

Could be a fun game - name the bottles? Looks like JP Joy on the bottom. Shalimar on the second. Easy ones. What is the crown in the middle? Something from Prince Matchabelli, maybe? Third shelf from the top, center, Coque d’Or?

There was a thread here recently that was based around identifying bottles on a vanity display from decades earlier. It was quite fun to debunk photos from the Golden Ages of Hollywood.

Au contraire, mon frere. The original was a famous surrealist collaboration between Dali and Elsa Schiaparelli that now fetches museum-level prices.

Well, you could wear Salvador Dali or Paloma Picasso. But any perfume you deem to be a work of art ought to be fair game, whether or not it's fairly gamy.

I’m so glad you asked that, Alice! I’ve looked my wardrobe and samples over twice, hoping something would jog my memory. I wished I had a sample of This Is Not A Blue Bottle from Histoires de Parfums

I'm going with Niki de Saint Phalle, the one-hit wonder by a sculpture artist who was a muse to many in the fashion world. I'm not that crazy about her artworks, but I do love this super-old-school chypre fragrance.

Unfortunately I've divested off many of my artistic scents that I used to have in past years. I could probably consider something from Rogue Perfumery for this week's sync.

It's actually quite pretty, sensual florals dusted with cumin. Dirty pretty. Unfortunate that it's been discontinued; it's fetching some fairly high prices for what it is (prices I'm unwilling to pay).

Two houses that would be appropriate for the sync are January Scent Project and Fzotic, both of which have owner/perfumers who are also visual artists (John Beibel and Bruno Fazzolari).

Today seemed like the perfect time to try my sample of Renaissance by Neil Morris. Named for the period of European history that produced a flowering of art, music & literature, l can't think of anything with a more "artistic" theme. And many would say that Neil is an artist, too.
