I will join in this week! Most provocative fragrance... hmmm... maybe Musc Ravageur? I’m not sure that I own too many provocative scents! Maybe I do. I always find it rather difficult to describe the overall feel of my wardrobe.

Super bummed I missed the boozy week. Boozy fragrances are wonderful.

Looking at the list, I already know my entry for scents that got me in trouble — X for Women, what got me started collecting in the first place.

I cannot say any of my collection are porn I am another who thinks it means showing photos or your collection for perfume lovers to drool over.

But name wise I have something.

Morphine by X-Ray is provocative by the name. I have been asked a few times when wearing what it is. I just X-Ray and leave it at that the general fragrance user will have no idea anyway what the brand is.

"Bel Ami est un grand seducteur." *

At its launch in 1986, the press materials from Hermès included a pencil sketch by Gustav Klimt of a naked recumbent woman, leaving no doubt about the claims for the fragrance's powers.

    Hermes.BelAmi.PressLaunchMaterials.GustavKlimt.jpg

At least, I hope that's what happened at the launch party. I can only find one assertion of the story, on Dmitri's Sorcery of Scent blog, but I want to believe it enough to wear Bel Ami for the sync today. And I do find Bel Ami pretty damned seductive, though it hasn't ever caused me to strip off my clothing. Or hasn't yet, anyway. The illegible line above the Klimt drawing says "Il se parfume. Elle s'abandonne." ("He perfumes himself. She surrenders.")

I'm wearing a decant from a vintage PureCaramel bottle.

    * French for 'panty-dropper'. Everything sounds better in French, doesn't it?

l've gone with Sheer Obsession today: a more work-friendly version of the powerhouse original, that had those very soft porn-like TV ads starring Kate Moss.

Here's my bottle amid a select group from my collection (photo taken a few years ago):

    344.jpg

l've always loved that elongated egg-shaped bottle too, it's so very tactile.

I'm not sure exactly what is my most provocative fragrance, but I'm going to pick one, douse myself with it enough that people will think I belong in a '70s porn. Does that count?

It's all about the attitude darling!

I like all the different takes on perfume porn. My porniest, i.e. most lust inducing bottles are the few discontinued/vintage ones I own: A big bottle of 31 Rue Cambon EdT in all its pristine 200 ml glory and a perfect bottle of Vintage Madame Rochas come to mind.

I'm on the go though, so I can't take any pictures, which is why I'm going with the sexy scent interpretation of the theme.

I own a few scents that I would consider sexy, but none of them qualify as pornographic sexy, which to my mind is sleazy, in your face, and, if done well, a bit tongue in check (make of that what you will). So I landed on a sample of Bogue MEM, which is the sexiest ylang I've ever had the pleasure of putting my nose on. Now I don't automatically classify white flowers as sexy, but they do have that potential, and this one is running with it. This is a sultry 23 year old in a low cut top and a barely there pair of shorts, all sweet curves and salty, sweaty skin, who is staring you straight in the face while tying cherry stems in knots with their tongue on the opposite end of the bar. I'm not normally into heavy animalics but this one I can see myself having a torrid affair with.

I'm synching today with Sangre Dulce which I hope fits the bill both in both senses of the word "provacative". The bottle isn't much, but here's what the perfumer had to say:

    Sangre Dulce ( Sweet Blood)

Sangre = the crazy unconventional idea of Alejandro Jodorowsky's Santa Sangre. Strange religious cult , avant garde elements and blood

Dulce = The wild night , a hallucination nightmare inspired by French movie "Climax" by Gaspar Noé base on sangria in this film which is laced with LSD after drink, let's the party started

Sangre Dulce is sweet intoxicated poison avant-garde gourmand

No This is not traditional gourmand

    Addictive gourmand ?
    Perhaps, yes
    My current rotation:
Skin scents: Shermine by Pierre Guillaume & Goddess by Lush
Work horses: Magnetica by Voronoi & Paithaini by Penhaligons
Heavy Hitters: Hyde by Hiram Green & Vi et Armis by Beaufort

I'm starting with Bal a Versailles by Jean Desprez. When I discovered this decades ago, my mom felt it might be a tad too grown up and provocative for me. She was only kidding me - she adored it, too. Back in the early 80's this was my most "sexy" fragrance I owned, until I began exploring more. Anyway, I'm halfway through my fourth bottle.

Well everyone is smelling quite alluring today! It’s fun to read about and see the interpretations on this theme.
I see a number of people have gone with Opium, so I may do that as a SOTE.
For now I’m going with Voulez Vous (“Do you want?”), by D’Orsay, in a one ounce 60’s bottle.
Classic floral chypre with warm spice and animal notes - vintage sex.

Not a lot of information out there on this fragrance.
The black and white image below is from and ad I found online.
The next three images are different takes from a glamour photo shoot I did with Voulez Vous.
It was lots of fun treating my perfume like a hot model.

I've been thinking on this one since Monday.... I looked first at my bottles, to see which was the most suggestive an while most of them were somewhat phallic (Donna Karan Liquid Cashmere and Kenzo Flower, certainly) it wasn't until I hefted my large bottle of Dior Midnight Poison that I realized how much it felt like the side of a woman's breast, aside from the obvious temperature difference. It's also one of two perfumes in my cabinet that is guaranteed to get a "Me Tarzan - you Jane!" reaction from my husband. Thank goodness I work from home....

I've moved on to Black Orchid by Tom Ford. A few years ago while getting "back into perfumes" I acquired this as a blind buy. I was blown away, at its sexiness, its sheer provocative nature. I feel it's relevant, in my history of fragrance discovery. My then, future husband was immediately smitten with this frag, as well.

I'm having issues today. I was planning on wearing Original Musk by Kiehls which it about as raw and animalic as I usually get or Musc Ravageur, but I accidentally knocked over my travel bottle of Le Parfum de Thérèse by Frederic Malle, which broke and drenched my hands and arms, so I guess that is now my most provocative fragrance!
