I would love to try it, but wasn’t it made specially for a European perfume shop?

I’d like to know too. Apparently it’s a limited edition crafted exclusively for the 10th anniversary of Perfume Lounge and drew comparisons to Caron Tabac Blond: coverage here.

Yes, you can buy it from the Perfume Lounge.

I was just hoping someone on BN had actually smelled it and could give their impressions.

I know. Was actually thinking of blindbuying it myself but that shipping overcharge had me at knifepoint, it felt more like an extortion than an online purchase.

Btw I’m willing to bet my bottom dollar it features Bianchi’s signature dirtied up orris-ambery leather accord that doesn’t quite agree with some of us but scores well with others. Oh crap, I’m afraid I might have just talked myself into surrendering my wallet lol.

I know. That's the one thing that's keeping my blind buying impulse in check.

Is that offer for any combination at perfume lounge? Or just Bianchi fragrances?

I have a sample (that leaked quite a bit, as did all 4 in the order, but it was a freebie so I'm grateful nonetheless) of Cuir Soyeux but haven't given it a proper wearing yet, I will post thoughts here when I do.

Worth noting for whenever that happens, I'm not the hugest fan of the Bianchi house, which is to say, the Bianchi DNA...or what I picked out as DNA from the few I tried.

The first of hers I sampled was Under My Skin which I thought was, and still think is, absolutely wonderful, beautiful, honed & polished stuff. I went on to try The Lover's Tale, The Dark Side, and Etruscan Water, none of which I found very enjoyable. Although I do think Etruscan Water is styled quite inventively and is well constructed. The drydown very much smells like what I imagine some Roudnitska Dior might smell like when it was freshly bottled 50-60 years ago.

From what I smelled of the leaked liquid droplets wiped on to a t-shirt from underneath the Cuir Soyeux sample cap, this has more in common with Under My Skin than those I wasn't super fond of, so it is starting with promise. Just take my words with a grain of someone-who-is-not-a-huge-fan salt.

Any combination, Plus, they only will refund manually after payment, a tad inconvenient and awkward.

I haven't found one of hers yet that I love, so I was hoping this one might be it. I'll be eagerly waiting to hear your impressions!

I haven't forgotten! I did actually wear it on skin once while I was just loafing about the house, maybe a week ago, didn't write down any notes. I'm afraid to wear it again.

It's totally plausible someone who is not me will adore this, but I found it...hard not to wash off, to put it lightly. Further confirmation that Bianchi is not a house for me. I love scents that let real orris butter shine through, and I don't doubt there is some in here, but I personally found it to be unlike any other presentation I've smelled. I recall the opening bringing to mind the description of "bleachy/bready". Sharp, not pleasant, weird orris and candied heliotrope (or something), plus a bunch of whatever that didn't smell nice at all.

I will grant that it calmed down into something more tolerable, but that took a good 90 minutes. I consider myself a fairly adventurous sniffer, rarely do I have the urge to 'scrub' as the kids say, but the urge struck here. I didn't follow through and am glad, since the base was tolerable, but still.

Again, just me. Someone may well find a holy grail here, but I did not. Also I didn't really smell any leather.

Will brave this again soon and take some more detailed sniffing notes.

Thanks for that review IsoE. I have tried every scent except Cuir Soyeux from this house and haven’t enjoyed a one, so I can definitively say this house is not for me. There is something in the base which I really dislike and is common throughout the house.

Cuir Soyeux is already sold out on her official website but I I have a bottle on the way from Perfume Lounge. It’s not that risky a buy for me since I seem to belong in the other camp. Will update this thread once I get my nose on it.

My bottle of Cuir Soyeux arrived 2 days ago. Been testing it since, and today compared it to a couple of my favorites from the floral leather category: Chanel Cuir de Russie and Dior Cuir Cannage. While the opening introduces labdanum’s ambery warmth with oily hints of leather-cleaning chemicals I find it closer in spirit to those two stalwarts than to the more masculine Dior Fahrenheit or Serge Lutens Cuir Mauresque. The much lauded (or maligned) dirtied-up orris butter Bianchi is known for seems tamer here as though it’s been given a great deal of polish. Absent is the soft suede of Chanel’s iris, nor the intriguing tobacco nuance in Dior. I hesitate to bring vintage Caron Tabac Blond into the frame as it’s been too long a time since I last sampled it I fear I wouldn’t be able to remove my rose-tinted eyewear in a comparison.

Sillage & projection are not as prominent as some of her other works. This could well be good news to anyone sensitive to her seemingly heavy handed use of certain Bianchi DNA base materials. Longevity is above average.

Overall Cuir Soyeux smells to me like a smooth well-polished leather ottoman. Surprisingly the warmth I was half-expecting from the listed labdanum and sandalwood did not materialise beyond the initial 30 minutes although I did detect some ambery booziness in the drydown. I might have to revisit this under warmer climate conditions. There’s a floralcy to it that evokes the aforementioned leather scents from Chanel & Dior but it doesn’t quite scale to similar heights. If you have the Chanel or Dior I fear you may find this limited edition redundant. Strictly for the fans IMO in which case I most certainly qualify.

Thank you for this insightful review! I so appreciate evenhanded evaluations like this, since they help me know whether or not to invest when sampling is not an option.

Thank you Diamondflame, the FOMO was giving me the itch, but I already own and love Cuir Cannage and Cuir Mauresque, so I needn’t worry about trying to get Cuir Soyeux, I’m covered.
