    Default Oud for Greatness

Received my sample and pretty much love at first sniff. Vvery wearable oud for all seasons imo. I searched the board and was unable to find a lot of talk on this one. What's your guy's thoughts? Considering full bottle, but need to confirm I'll wear it often so need few wearings. One thing i noticed, is people around me coild smell it 10+ hours later on me, but i lose the scent after a few.

Need to sample more from this line.

I have a sample that I haven't worn much, but it's definitely good. In that price range, though, I like Ombre Nomade more.

Sampled at Luckyscent NYC. One of the best for folks who enjoy a toned down, non-barnyardy Our. Very nice. The deal breaker was the $300 + pricetag.

I bought mine at 200+ change. 300 is way too high.

Oud for Greatness reminded me in some way of Parfums de Marly Nisean, which is a little bit greener and a patchouli based fragrance.
Oud for Greatness is a little bit smoother and woodier.

I've read somewhere that it's supposed to be a super loud fragrance - I don't think so and the oud in it isn't skanky at all, but it has a little touch of that typical cedarwood sharpness. Maybe that differs from batch to batch if it's really natural oud. I can only speak for the sample I've tried.

All in all it's a nice scent but it hasn't wow'ed me so far. Maybe it will grow on me in future, who knows. I've only worn it once.

Does anyone know the name of the perfumer of Oud for Greatness?
I can't find that information anywhere but wouldn't be surprised if it's Nathalie Gracia-Cetto, who did Nisean.

Out of the Initios I've tried, I think Side Effect is the most mass appealing alongside with Rehab.

It's a good perfume, but Initio is an even more-expensive sister label for Parfums de Marly, and because of the $300+ price tag with little to no discounts anywhere, most of the line doesn't get much talk beyond people with the salary to bankroll collections of Roja Dove and artisanal lines like Areej le Dore.

tl;dr it gets overlooked for being really expensive and hard for most people to try.

I think Oud for Greatness is a really nice dry medicinal oud, expensive as noted by others, but if you're focused on a smaller wardrobe or have the coin to splurge, won't disappoint you if stuff like M7 is your cuppa.

First in Fragrance has it for $232 at current exchange which is $118 less than the US retail of $350

For some reason most European niche companies like to add $100-$150 to anything they sell in the US lol. XD

An accurate description! That's what I meant with "sharpness".

I was a little bit surprised when testing it out because nearly everyone who reviewed it sounded like "it's so easy to wear and very mass pleasing", so I expected something more sweet, even more rounded.
If someone thinks it's in the realm of something like Layton Exclusif - it's clearly not.
To me it's a "mature" scent like Nisean.

I really love this one. You can find it cheaper on the grey market, same with many Parfums de Marly. I think the price is okay considering bottles are 90ml, PdM bottles are 125ml. The Managing Director of Initio and PdM is Yvan Jacqueline, so no doubt, there will be some similarities.

PDM and Initio have the same distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, too.
That's why I wanted to try them as I do enjoy quite a bit PDM fragrances.

Nisean I haven't tried, but intend to. Hard to sample because most places that stock PdM don't like to carry their older creations or anything not in the unholy trinity of Layton/Herod/Galloway

Another one I love and enjoy. Own a bottle of this and Side Effect from initio, and have not found any others FB worthy for me. As others have mentioned, not skanky at all. Almost in the same vein as Precious Oud from VC&A, but different supporting notes.

    No it's not.
It works fine - but I'm in Germany and it's a German shop.
