Dior Homme Parfum?

Hi all,

I'm still relatively new in my fragrance journey having only starting seeking out new scents since August or so. But I have found myself growing to absolutely love the dior homme line. I currently own dior homme and DHI. I also have Valentino uomo intense and love this too. I've read a lot that DHP really amps up the performance which is exactly what Im craving as the ones I own seem to project quite soft on my skin.

Is this a good enough indicator to blind buy DHP? or is it significantly different to the above?

Also - I'm based in the UK and can't seem to find it in stock anywhere. Could anybody point me in a good direction please?

John Lewis and Debenhams have it in stock - it reappeared in the UK recently.

Its very different then the rest, I appreciate and respect it for what it is but never grew to like it to wear it. Definitely sample first as it is a lot different then the rest of the Dior Homme line.

An SA at the Dior stand in Le Bon Marché confirmed that this one is on its way out.

(It's a chemical foghorn as far as I am concerned, with none of the elegance of the original DH.)

I would say you already have the best projecting - DHI.

DHP comes across heavier, thicker to me and actually quite oily in its consistency.

Definitely blind-buy worthy, IMO. You can find it around the UK if you look hard enough, try the airport duty-frees as well.

If you want something more similar to Dior Homme, go for Homme Intense. Smells similar but stronger. If I were to recommend a blind buy it would be that.

DHP has that similar iris note as the others, but it is pretty different. I blind bought it and am glad I did, but that is me. If you can find a sample somewhere, definitely check it out.

beast mode scent. has a rougher, more leathery quality than intense which is smoother but also leans more femme. definite waxy/oily thing going on with the juice and strong as anyone would ever require.

DHP is blind-buy worthy. A bit different, but very nice for fall and winter. Really enjoy it.

From a personal and subjective viewpoint alone, DHP is different enough from the regular Dior Homme and its Intense flanker to make this fairly safe for a blind buy but also not redundant enough to own and use it even if already owning the other 2 versions just mentioned

For what its worth, I think it is the best of the line and I already have a couple of back-up bottles tucked away

It may well be right up your street, but for me it's not up to the standard of the original DH, DHI, or DHS ( and neither is DH Eau in my opinion )

DHP is outstanding - probably one of the best designer fragrances ever made.
I think it's more masculine than DHI and more similar to the regular Dior Homme EDT than DHI.
But much thicker, denser, richer.

Imagine going for a walk in nature. You get the smell in the air of some wood burnt in the fireplaces of the houses along the trails combined with the wet autumn leaves and meadows. All sprinkled with some candle wax and hints of leather.
It's a divine smell!

And I don't get that "lipstick" or "cosmetic bag" vibe with it - but I do with DHI.

Too dense for me as well with the addition of the leather. VUI is a bit smoother, in my opinion, and should give you a good indication of what to expect. I have DHI and DHP and ended up liking DHI more. Being a lover of the DH line though, I would still recommend a blind buy just to satisfy your curiosity. Make sure you tell us what you think!

Sooner or later it will indeed be discontinued and I'm pretty sure, prices will skyrocket then so everyone who doesn't like it that much could sell it off without any loss.
I have no doubt that it will be a very high sought after scent in future, more than Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 or Fahrenheit Absolute.

Totally agreed! Incidentally, I have backup bottles of DHP and eau Sauvage 2012...and I don't have too many backup bottles of anything lol

It's a great scent, but I wouldn't blind buy it. It's a very different animal to DH and DHI; it's more dense and heavy. The iris is drier than in the other versions, and the butch leather gives it a very oily / waxy texture if that makes sense. If anything, I'd probably compare it to Fahrenheit Parfum in terms of heft and feel.

I blind bought it and love it. My favorite of the line, but I wouldn’t recommend a blind buy. Very dense, rich, opulent. I blind bought it because the reviews seemed to indicate it had the elements that I wished DH and DHI had. Unfortunately I only really get the urge to wear it in really cold weather.

This is a good point if you are all right with a potential bit of hassle. If you end up not liking it, selling Homme Parfum will easily get your money back for what you paid.

I would advice against a blind buy, particularly if you're expecting to get something along the lines of a better, more polished or deeper version of DHI. I haven't seen it mentioned here so just a heads up, there's a prominent rose note that sets DHP apart from DH or DHI. But I agree with Danny Mitchell, if you buy it and dislike it you could likely flip it no problem.
