Default Help finding a new "Aventus" from another house

I'm trying to branch into other niche houses. I am getting sick of wearing Aventus, for now, and I want to try and find something as good and fitting for me, but from another house/brand. I was looking at Elysium, Percival and Layton. I want something that's as good quality and versatile but also fresh like Aventus. Or at least not super Oudy Woody or dark. I'm very unfamiliar with By Killian, Clive Christian and the like. Any advice?

Cedrat Boise by Mancera is a nice one.

Christian Dior Bois d'Argent is super versatile. Ambre Nuit is wonderful. The price point for these is also reasonable compared to other niche or exclusive lines.

Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire and Music for a While are also really versatile.

Well, I'll give them a look and maybe grab some decants. Thanks a bunch. I'm just always afraid that these expensive luxury scents are purposed to smell barbershoppy or old school. I can't get into super animalic stuff either. I'm a bit under 30 so I guess I lean slightly towards mass appealing still. However I want to stick out.

I would check out Layton if I were you. There's a reason why its so popular (I think its PdM's most popular fragrance) and it definitely fits your criteria of a "fresh" scent that is also "mass appealing" and would make you stick out - less people wear this stuff than Aventus. Definitely high quality, and super versatile - like Aventus, it could be worn year round, and either dressed up or dressed down. The price tag will keep some people away, but definitely do NOT pay full price as this is readily found on the gray market for ~$140-170. I adore Layton, and I'm an Aventus guy too

Not crazy about Prada L'homme. Ive had it. It's not my favorite genre. And I liked Dior homme eau better honestly. I like more fruity notes, I guess. Some floral.

Don't get me wrong, I like gouramand fragrances and some Woody notes and a bit of oud. Just looking something in the same vein as Aventus, but a different note breakdown. I wish I knew how to put it better, because I don't want to sound like I'm looking for something that smells like Aventus.

Try Dior Fahrenheit. Smoky-fruity floral chypres don't get any better.

You're on the right track with Layton, IMO. PdM, as discussed a lot here, gets a lot of hate, but Layton is a fantastic, signature worthy scent, and it's completely different from Aventus scent profile wise, but conveys a lot of similarities in that it's a strong, striking fragrance, has great lasting power, smells awesome in the air around you, is a real compliment getter, etc. etc.

Amouage Reflection Man would also fit pretty well in this category.

    Layton. Easy call.

Personally, I believe the discussion on Aventus has been stretched to a point where it has gotten me nauseating. Good to see you are sick of that . There are 1000s of fragrances in the market which are stellar. I think we need to broaden our view and just not stick to one particular type of fragrance. Having said, you can find some fantastic fragrances from ELDO.

Good call on Layton. Not a fan of the house but I can’t deny this is a pretty solid release.

Others you might want to consider:-
    Xerjoff Nio
    Roja Sultanate of Oman
    Floris 1962
    Clive Christian X

Not niche, yes great masculine scents: Givenchy Gentlemen, Armani Eau Pour Homme. Vintage formulations, if at all possible.

I would argue that Cedrat Boise is the "Aventus" of the Mancera line. The "Aventus" of Bond no. 9 would either be Bleeker Street or Riverside Drive, although Riverside Drive is getting hard to find these days, but worth the effort to sample if you can locate a source.

    Amouage Jubilation XXV

Try some Exclusives from Guerlain (Derby, Chamade, Arsène Lupin, Lui, Néroli Outrenoir, Tonka Impériale, Spiritueuse Double Vanille) or a couple of good Amouages (Dia Man, Honour Man, Jubilation XXV, Ciel Man, Bracken Man)

I'd recommend vintage Givenchy Gentleman as well.

More a more appealing scent perhaps Gucci Envy for Men

+1 Millesime Imperial. From Creed I'd also add Virgin Island Water.

    I've never tried Layton.

From reading the original post, and some of the followups, I think these were good suggestions:

    Fahrenheit
    Clive Christian X
    Cedrat Boise

From Frederic Malle, maybe Bois d'Orage.

Bois d' Orage or French Lover is an excellent pick, Id go as far to say that I actually enjoy it more than Creed's Spice and Wood if you can believe it.
