Default Most worn in November 2019

Have a couple of days off and thus have my scent schedule sorted, so my stats are ready.

    9 Bas de Soie
4 Borneo 1834, Caron Pour un Homme, Drôle de Rose, Loukhoum
    3 Chêne
2 Louve, Sables, Traversée du Bosphore

November's biggest surprise was how smitten I was with Bas de Soie. I'm generally not a big fan of hyacinth note, but something about Bas de Soie intrigued me enough to buy a bottle of it. I don't wear it often, but now had serious cravings for it, and got stuck for over a week!

Another surprise was Drôle de Rose, my latest purchase. I've always admired it, but had my doubts if it was really "me". But then I got e-mail from L'Artisan with an offer I couldn't refuse, and found out I quite enjoy wearing it.

Woody Lutenses, and Goutal Sables are old November staples, Caron Pour un Homme always cuddly and comforting.

Notewise number one was loukhoum - it's the main theme of Loukhoum, Louve and Traversée du Bosphore.

What did you wear during the darkest month of the year, fellow nerdettes and nerds?

What a delightful post, tigrushka! I very much value learning about your wearing trends and experience with your perfume choices.

    My stats:

5 wears: Chanel Cuir de Russie and Twilly d’Hermes Eau Poivree
4 wears: Terre d’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver
    3 wears: Cuir Impertinent
    2 wears: Heritage
Note to self: Choose being kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time.

It's always so interesting to look back to see what you have actually worn. For me it tends to always be different from what I think I've been wearing. Now I am not the best at keeping track of what I wear, but my sotd records shows I have worn 2 fragrances more than once this month:

    2 x Tsarina Ormonde Jayne
    2 x Valkyrie Sylvaine Delacourte

I've tested 15 fragrances by Sylvaine Delacourte this month, so that is the house I've worn the most, and I think the overal most frequently appearing note was vanilla, followed by iris.

I've been interested in a few of the L'Artisan offerings you mention, tigrushka, but I don't see Drôle de Rose or Traversee du Bosphore on their site anymore. Are we looking at a discontinuation?

I understand what you're saying about inexplicable attractions and streaks, Tigs. It happens from time to time. We just learn to roll with it.

Replica Across Sands by Martin Margiela -- 2 wears
New Haarlem by Bond No. 9 -- 2 wears
Mira Baï by Chopard -- 2 wears

As a direct copy-paste from a similar thread based on statistics:

1 Open by Roger & Gallet 2 wears
2 Habit Rouge by Guerlain 2 wears
3 Héritage Eau de Toilette by Guerlain 2 wears
4 Red for Men by Giorgio Beverly Hills 2 wears

Just like mentioned previously on that particular thread, anything else qualifying for either one war or no wars during the months that is just about to end.

Thanks, nice to hear that! I started to keep stats in 2004, and have learned a lot because of them. One of the first things I noticed was that my favourite scents weren't necessarily the ones I wore most often, favourites seemed to be saved "for special occasions" while the ones I actually wore regularly were "workhorses".

That's exactly what I love about keeping stats! They don't lie, they tell you what you actually wear, and that might differ from what you think you wear.

It does indeed look like Drôle de Rose and Traversée du Bosphore have been discontinued. They were on sale, I nabbed both, and when I visited L'Artisan Parfumeur site next time, both had disappeared.

Damn, that's bad news! I did get a back up of Safran Troublant from an outlet, but didn't realise they were discontinuing this much! It's quite a drastic reduction. I've never tested Drole de Rose, perhaps I should take the plunge and order it blindly from an outlet while they still have them...

    8 wears:
    Black by Bvlgari
    7 wears:
    Pink Grapefruit by Body Shop
    5 wears:
    Frescaessenza by L'Erbolario
    4 wears:
Black Opium Eau de Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent
    Puma Woman by Puma
    Mango by Body Shop
    2 wears:
Le Baiser du Dragon by Cartier
La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto Eau de Toilette Florale by Guerlain
    Dali Wild by Salvador Dali
    Café Chantant by Nobile 1942
Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme by Gucci
    Contradiction by Calvin Klein
    Verveine / Verbena by L'Occitane

I was really craving vanillas and gourmands this month, and I also wore quite a lot of simple fruity scents after evening shower this month, too. I always love a nice citrus, and although November is probably not the best month for them, I still sneaked a citrusy scent here or there to add some zing to my day. Also this month I dialed back a bit from my usual favourites and most worn scents because of several finish-focuses (Puma Woman that I finished and Frescaessenza + Pink Grapefruit I'm still working on) and because I got myself a bottle of Bvlgari Black that totally got me under its rubbery asphalty vanilly spell. If it goes on, I guess I have one more favourite.

Though I didn't wear citruses this November, I remember doing so quite often in the past. Since November is the greyest and gloomest month, I often crave for something bright and sunny like Penhaligon's Castile, The Different Company Divine Bergamote and other scents with bergamot and orange blossom notes.
