Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Still out of town (we plan to return to Miami tonight), it's so nice to be in cool weather and bundle up a bit...Miami is very hot still. The dog and the cat, here at the house, greet me every morning with enthusiasm and wagging tails. I'm beginning to anticipate it. It's sweet.

Last night I wore Siberian Summer by Areej le Dore and it mixed very well with the smell of Scotch Old Fashioned's w/ pumpkin bitters

I am going to walk to the local LA Fitness and do a quick workout so that I can get rid of some of the guilt of having a fantastic slice of pizza and garlic bread last night.

You smell great. I think this is on my wishlist. If not I'll add it.

Still in a vanilla mood from yesterday's delightful synch. So I'm off and running in Les Senteurs Vanille de la Reunion. Have a great Saturday, all.

    Hello all,

My SOTD is Chanel Cuir de Russie. After yesterday’s belated Thanksgiving feast, I never want to eat again. It’s a good day to resume dieting.

    Have a good day.

Can't recall whether this decant came from LiveJazz or PureCaramel, but Hermès Bel Ami Vetiver s lighting up my life today.

This seems perfectly unisex to me. The leather element is so gentle it's more like suede, and the vetiver is far sweeter than usual, more fresh than rooty. It has a feeling of competence and professionalism about it. I think I'm going to need a larger decant of this. I could definitely use more competence.

Cook.bot--I love your signature today. Panthere parfum is one of the four scents for which I own multiple backups. And thanks for the tip about gumbo!

Inesespenes--Good luck with your move, I hope everything goes smoothly.

Today I'm wearing Mazzolari Vetiver, as I pick up frozen poop in the backyard and put up the outdoor Christmas decorations. I'm doing it today because it's supposed to rain for the next week. Tomorrow I can even look forward to the dreaded "winter mix."

I had a great Thanksgiving with my family. My nephew told a funny story about losing his wallet in the Moscow metro this summer during a student trip. He left it atop a machine and silly boy did not have his passport on him. After much traipsing around with station officials and trying to identify himself to reclaim his wallet by telling them his "face" could be found in a picture id within it, he received his wallet back intact, but not before being informed that "your Russian is terrible".

Went to the gym for a hot-minute and then went to a local Farmer's Market and indulged myself with a fantastic plate of Avocado Toast (one of the best I've ever had). The weather was picture-perfect.

I bought a Johnny Cupcakes tank top...from a Pop Up Shop in the Farmer's Market. I love the graphics.

We're watching 'The Irishman' on Netflix and contemplating dinner before the drive back home.

After my nap and a shower it's a lot of:

Symphonie de Neroli by Bortnikoff Perfumes

So much more about florals than just neroli. A very complex scent with oud-ish flashes and lots of wood, powdery resins and florals.

Sweet indeed. Dear husband, dear dog, and I start each day with a group hug. She stands on a piece of furniture so we're all nearer the same height, and much wagging goes on. We also each get a kiss at bedtime. Day-Z thinks she's puckering, but it's more like a grimace.

Yay! Fellow fan. I love both Bel Ami and BA Vetiver. Haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but might buy BAV when I finish my bottle of BA.

It's a rainy day, and we're enjoying "Anna and the Apocalypse," a UK Christmas zombie musical, for sci fi Saturday (on a tiny tv). I thought I'd try going to my nighttime scent early, but it's really not a daytime perfume. Funny how that works. It's perfect every night at bedtime. Anyhoosits, it's Replica Across Sands this afternoon.
    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

What are some of your favorite Chinese food meals? One that always stands out to me is the honey walnut and prawns. Can't get enough of that one. Asian chicken salads are great too as well their long broccoli.

Chicken satay, orange chicken, king prawns in garlic sauce, egg fried rice & those delicious sesame & prawn toasts are a regular feature around here.

Today I'm going to get a grip on myself, cut the sugar out of my diet, and put aside my trashy ways.

I feel like I weigh a million pounds-- I'm not making this up: I also roasted a duck on Thursday night. I separate the the leg quarters when the breast is at internal 150 and finish them at 300 degrees in their own fat for a semi-confit thing. My turkey was beautiful, my duck was ugly. Aaaannd, this is why I weigh a million pounds, plus Mr. Cat's homemade pecan pie and homemade chess pie.

Seriously, I ordered some jeans in the next size up. And some sweat pants.
