Default Fallen in love with two

I was sent some samples of some cologne by fellow Basenoter and they were all great. Tom of Finland was great and so was Amouage Interlude. The latter was the most expensive. Knize Golden Edition was also great. But the two I like best we’re Eldo Rien intense incense and Histories de Parfum 1740

Intense Incense is hard to find. I’ve read where people think that Rien is very very similar and is almost exactly the same in the drydown. It is said to project and last as well as the intense incense. I can find a pretty good deal on it.

I have sworn off leathers but the 1740 was very good. It involved me in a scent cloud as did the Eldo

If you had to get one to complement the two Chanel’s I have, Coromandel and Antaeus, which one would you choose and why, the choices being between Eldo Rien and Histories de Parfum 1740

I have not smelled the regular Rien and so if it is not as good as the intense incense that may sway me to the 1740

Own and love them both, but I'd pick the HdP as I find it easier to wear.

I would go with HDP 1740 of the two. A nice cooler weather scent, an artistic scent IMO.

To me, Rien is about the animalics: warm, wild, intense, musky. 1740 is warm, but more refined, with gourmand touches (from the immortelle). So to some extent it depends also on where you are planning to wear these. If you want to wear them in formal occasions, perhaps 1740 is less risky. but if you want to wear them in more personal circumstances, then Rien is more exciting.

I love both, but Rien is the personal favorite.

Probably wear Coromandel on formal occasions primarily. Antaeus I wear anytime in winter and late fall. This new scent I’ll just wear whenever in fall and winter

1740. Has a lovely immortelle note too.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

    I'd go for both Chanels (Antaeus [*****], Coromandel [****] and 1740 [****].

I wore Eldo Rien and appreciated the leather note but then my wife said it smelled strongly of cat urine, which I am glad to say I have never smelled, bit she became very familiar with growing up.

Found a bottle of 1740 on fragrance net for $111 and I grabbed it. Looks like they’ve started to collect sales tax for the state of Tennessee

I would go with 1740. As previously mentioned, it is more versatile.

1740 is a fantastic choice. Congrats on snagging that bottle!
