Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Morning all!

Not so frosty here this morning as we have a bit of light cloud, but it's still cold.

l'm off into town today for a haircut & a bit of Christmas shopping, while basking in the spicy warmth of Sheer Obsession.

Hello and best to everyone. (((((Quarry))))) and (((((Jon))))) -- I share your sentiments. xo

Last night's commute was hampered by slushy, freezing snow. Thankfully my office let us leave a half an hour earlier; my usual 20 minute drive took over an hour. Today all is sunny and bright, and it really does look pretty dusting the trees and shrubbery, even if I white-knuckled driving home in it last night.

SOTD is Natori eau de toilette, a brighter, fresher take on the eau de parfum. The edp had a note that eventually grew nose-fatiguing. Whatever it was, it's happily absent in the edt.

More hugs for Quarry. I'm so sorry to read this was your school; I can't imagine such an awful feeling. Having had an extended family member seriously injured in one of these occurrences, I'm glad the situation was stopped quickly. But that doesn't help solve just what on earth is going on. So many troubled souls out there, sadly.

Hope your yoga perks you up, caz! And hope your choppers are happy and healthy, JR!

I'd forgotten I had scored some Chanel samples in the new kitten excitement. I want to be sure to get these done, so they can go into a package I'm working on for my sampling buddy, who I've bombarded with Chanel. I hope she can stand some more. Today I'm wearing Gabrielle Essence and I must say, I'm surprised to find it very similar to EA's Sunflowers! A very, very fancy take on a Sunflowers type floral, mind you. I like this style very much but with Sunflowers already in my collection, I'd go for the original Gabrielle if I were to purchase one of these. Neither are on the list for now; I'm done with buying until sometime next year. Both Gabrielles are lovely, though.

    Have a good day all!

Grateful hugs in return to Zilpha, Robin, CuddlCat, Ine, Trilby, ComDiva, Jon, teardrop, and PL. Tdem, I know you and I have lamented this subject before. The situation had the best possible outcome, I guess, thanks to the way the adults handled it, shooting the student non-fatally. But watching the footage of the students and parents afterward--nearly every single individual with tear-filled eyes--breaks my heart.

Trilby, what a great impetus and wondrous-sounding trip all the way around. I'm happy for you.

I was thinking about vanilla since Hazel’s Friday sync, so I applied Shalimar today. Also, want to call attention to an upcoming Jo Malone called Vetiver & Golden Vanilla: “with the elegance of vetiver and softness and comfort that is bestowed by vanilla, it gives off the spicy aromas of cardamom as well as the warm and sensual aromas of grapefruit tea.” Sounds interesting!
    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

Wearing this recent re-purchase from a decant I had a while back. While I really don't like most patchouli based fragrances...this one is fantastic.

Q, school shootings hit home with me. When I was in college 5 fellow classmates lost their lives just a few hundred yards from where I was sitting...still in class, safely. Campus was in utter chaos, it looked like we had been invaded the amount of armed guards, officers, police, even military personnel running from building to building.

I had to walk a few miles back to our off-campus house and had all of that time to myself to just comprehend what had just happened (I didn't know the extent yet.) I was just so happy to be alive and so overwhelmed knowing that there would probably be a few others...some that I might even know that wouldn't get to walk at graduation...or go on and just live the rest of their lives in entirety.

I still remember getting home and having my one roommate being so happy that I was ok that she gave me the biggest hug and just cried in my arms. We waited for the other two roommates anxiously...(one being her future husband) over the next hour just hoping and praying everyone was ok. Communication networks were down so we weren't able to text or call out to friends/family. I remember telling my dad in an email...tell everyone that I am ok, I love you so much, will call later... I'm getting really emotional typing this and I'm not really a super emotional person...so I guess even when you think time has healed you things like this will have an effect on you for your entire life.

Cherish every day that you have...always leave your loved ones on good terms and if you know anyone struggling with their mental health...extend your hand and help them.

Touching story, rynegne. The effects of such incidents are wide ranging.

I’m wearing Chanel No. 22 today. The weather is gloomy so I’m going to turn on lights, put on happy music, and try to cheer up and be productive. It rarely affects me but, hey, not every day is sunshine and roses.

    Serge Lutens Encens et Lavande

Finally an incense I find wearable. Olibanum is a note I love but find overwhelming in most personal scents - I think it works best for me as a household note, as in a Diptique candle, say. In this SL I find the other notes balance it out pretty well.
