Default Anything out there similar to Pure Havane or Malt that is a bit less sweet...

I really like these fragrances but if I could I'd turn the sweetness dial down a bit. Anyone come across anything like Pure Malt or Havane that has toned down the sweetness?

CK ONE Shock reminds me a little of both PH and PM, and is less sweet and more...fruity than either.

The following ones also share some similarities to certain extents:

    - Aramis Havana (not so much because of the name but far more due to an almost gourmand sweet rendition of boozy notes yet not as much as the Mugler flankers due to being significantly reduced by fresher barbershop bay leaf notes halfway through)

    - l'Insoumis by Lalique

    - Chergui by Lutens

    - Eau des Baux

    - possibly also Burberry London

    - Baldessarini Ambre (actually in spite of the name not so much of an amber as much as an apple brandy spicy fragrance, rather than with a tobacco and/or boozy single malt rendition like in the case of the other two)

    Yes.

    Affordable:

Azzaro pour Homme Intense (2015) - A quasi-Pure Malt boozy-amber opening that keeps the warmth but adds in a woodier base.

Samba Skin Man (2014) - A simplified, woodier, darker take on the Pure Havane style.

    Both of these perform well.

Is Samba Skin still strong on longevity and performance in it's current reformulation?

The bottle I picked up this year gave me very solid performance (8 hrs longevity with a few hours of good projection).

    Good suggestion.

My answer to a less-sweet version of Pure Havane would be Pure Malt, so not really sure...

Parfums de Marly's Layton takes a different sort of route while still smelling similar to Pure Malt, but not sure it's any less sweet. Herod might be a good alternative to Pure Havane though?

This is a list of good fragrances, some of which I like a lot, but I don't think stuff like vintage Polo has much in common with gourmands like Pure Malt and Pure Havane!

You'd get one hell of a shock if you sprayed Ambrarem on you and expected something similar to the Muglers! Can I watch it happen please?

Metal chewing tobacco without much sweetness.

La Yuqawan reminds me of Pure Havana at times.

For Pure Malt consider looking Lubin Idole and Kilian Straight to Heaven. Frapin 1270 is another alternative to Pure Malt, there's almost the same amount of sweetness in that one.

As for Pure Havane consider looking at Xerjoff 1861 Naxos, that one is a bit more bitter.

You should try Animale Animale. Has similar tones to malt and havane and it actually came out before Angel Men.
