Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I'm finishing Monday and beginning Tuesday with RÒS from Caswell Massey. More ladies need to consider this one, as it is officially unisex, but touted as a male-friendly rose. Strong, spicy in a more anise-like way than peppery, and very persistent. My wife asks what it is when I wear it, and always approves.

Now going with Shalimar Parfum Initial - a travel bottle given to me by Primrose, years ago. The stuff is impossible to find now. If they ever bring it back as a limited edition, I will BUY, BUY, BUY!

I find it comforting - an easy wear. Modern, relaxed, soothing. A great idea. Don't know why they DCed it.

Well, who knows. Maybe it was just weird.

    Hello all.

    Prada Candy by Prada.

Redneck, Shalimar Parfum Initial turns up on eBay UK but usually the L'eau verison, I was lucky and did get a 90mls bottle of the original last year. Gorgeous and should never have been discontinued.

    Hi, everyone!

    Happy Birthday, Zephyr1973! canvas.png

It is a rainy day here, and I am wearing
    J' adore Touche de Parfum,
which sits very close to the skin. I wanted something discreet as I paid
a visit to my chef-teacher at his work this morning.
I am happy I have bought this perfume; it is nothing like the original J'adore,
different notes, jasmine, rose and sandalwood, a very classy, warm and luxurious scent.

Joining Red & donna in the swooning over Shalimar PI. I'm well stocked on both the original and L'Eau but also disgusted at the discontinuation. I had been told it was a great seller, but who knows.

And I can't wear Shali PI without warm, fuzzy thoughts of cestrum! What a perfect lead-in that scent is to this hello hug! A lovely December surprise, you are! I am not amazing; just one of those jerks who can't say NO. Which is really no good for anyone. But I am beginning to work on that. I owe you some messages, big time! Coming soon!

Sadly, many of our SotD birthdays seem to be a who's who of folks who used to be active here. Wishing a very happy birthday to Zephyr, who I miss seeing regularly!

Lol at your surprised question, ComDiva! We usually have three trees. It started as one big tree and two miniatures but my husband's motorcycle/Harley themed ornament collection kept growing. So now he gets a big boy tree. It sounds nuts but I actually really enjoy doing the bigger trees. I only wish coordinating family schedules for celebrating could be as easy. I'm tired of feeling like the Christmas nag.

And a confession -this year, it's just two trees. Decided I am not decorating the mini tree and stuffed it back in the box. A very satisfying NO! This does not mean you are off the hook, ClockworkAlice! Keep those decorations up, and enjoy your pretty things!

Treating myself to some 31 Rue Cambon EdT this morning; have a great day, all!

Re-testing Elie Saab's "Neroli" today, trying to find something I missed the first few times.

Orange blossom and neroli are very pleasant to my nose, but not....exciting(?) I don't know, I'd be happy to wear this if I didn't own anything else, but in my collection, it would get lost.

Hi, folks, and happy birthday, Zephyr

Shout-out to PerfumedLady for your three trees! I'd love to see pics of the motorcycle-themed one.

Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline for me, from a sample.

Agree with the reviews that call it a fairly simple pepper-incense fragrance, and since I happen to like both those notes very much (cardamom's in there, too, and also a favorite), I plan to keep my sample around for later wearing. I do not, however, like it enough to shell out the multiple hundreds of dollars for a full bottle. I've got other pepper- and incense-forward frags that will sustain me. Terrific Tuesday to all!

Black Tourmaline fragrance notes: Cardamom, Coriander, Cumin, Frankincense, Pepper, Smoked wood, Oud, Leather, Precious woods, Musk, Amber, Moss, Patchouli
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... I'm going to wave a "Hallo en welkom!" to gewoonBB and join him in some Encre Noir a L'Extreme. This stuff is actually too masculine for me, but I like it so much I'll just engage in a little cross-dressing (cross-fuming?) today.

I'm surprised by how much I am liking this. I suppose it's because I usually don't go for green scents, and Luca Turin doesn't like hyacinth, but I do.

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Mugler Cuir Impertinent today. Some stalled projects are finally coming to fruition: the exterior house painting is nearing completion (it literally took years to find a reliable painter) and I got my renewed drivers license in the mail (after waiting exactly six months for it). It’s a light feeling to get things done!

    Have a good day.
Note to self: Choose being kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time.
