Default Chic for men Carolina Herrera.. help

I'm thinking of buying this in a few days..
Reading the reviews it sounds like a great all rounder and an easy blind buy.
Only problem is some say it's been reformulated while other people say it hasn't.
Also i don't know which bottle to look for..
Some bottles have a black plastic sprayer while others have a clear sprayer (tube).
Was thinking of getting 212 sexy men but i had it years ago.
i've never had Chic in my collection however and it sounds pretty solid.
Any help or thoughts on this fragrance or which version to look for would be appreciated.

Foamy, I wore this for years as a signature scent pre-BN and can tell you that there was a difference between original bottles and what was on shelves 5 years ago. Its far more apparent in the base which used to be richer. I became accustomed to the differences in the subtler nuances from wearing it almost daily. I haven't smelled what's being produced today.

Older bottles do come up on ebay occasionally for the same price as a new bottle. Avoid bottles that are clear glass on all sides with a black sprayer straw. Older ones have a smoky tint and the left and right sides of the bottle should have a black tint.

Scentwise its an Aquatic Woody Spicy. Aquatic and peppery top, spicy cardamom and cinnamon mids, warm sexy ambery tobacco, sandalwood (javanol) and tonka base. Lasts for days on clothing too.

Would perhaps considering and also recommend this as a casual choice, especially if the price is affordable.

So far, although not particularly being into this particular type of casual scents each testing/sampling experience of this went very good, not just performance wise (incidentally, also better than expected for this kind of popular designer scent) but its notes developed with a fairly pleasant balance between fresh and sweeter notes as well.
Also irrespective of the sprayer and/or exterior design, having not really detected any significant or at least personally perceptible differences apart from the outer box, bottle etc. appearance.

Had this when it originally was released. I liked it quite a bit. Pronounced watermelon on top with spices and pepper before getting into a more tonka/ambery base. It came out at a period where tonka bean wasn't being used as much so the progression from a fresh, melony aquatic to its deeper, darker ambery/tonka base was a bit different at the time. It's been years since I've smelled it so I haven't any clue as to what it may smell like now.

Sheik and everyone else, thanks for the replies.
Actually no it's not a cheapie at 48 euros.
I just hope it's still good. I could buy the original Herrera for men, but ive heard it's been changed dramatically.
Heard good things about that one as well.

I own the darker, shaded bottle. It's an awesome frag. You can wear it in the summer evenings, you can wear it in the winter. You can pull it off on a date, clubbing or a casual night out, even office - any season!
