Question 36 and still no signature scent

    Hello!

So, yes I'm a 36 y/o woman and I'd really love to find my signature scent!

I've never gotten serious about perfumes before. I've never really stuck to one thing.

So, I used to love a perfume called Haiku sold by Avon, but that was 20 years ago and I don't even remember how it smells. The only other scent I remember loving was Juniper Breeze from Bath & Body Works..

Recently, I came across a sample of Chloe Eau de Parfum and fell in love with it. BUT. My fiance hates it. While I'm an independent woman, I still really want my fiance to enjoy my scent obviously so I haven't purchased it.
I like Heavenly by Victoria's Secret kind of, but eh.

So, based on these scents can anyone name a few that I may be able to try please?

I do also love aquatic, fresh, light and green. But maybe that should be a whole 'nother thread.

    I am 35 and I don't have a signature scent.

Why do I need to have a signature scent when I can enjoy all the opulent scents in my collection?

    Why stick to one?

Why can't we be the one with 'many signature scents'?

Avon, Victoria's Secret, Chloe...all of them are nice. Just keep looking.

I'm 42 and haven't found it yet. I've found a wonderful selection of scents I truly enjoy based on my mood, the weather, or just because.

This is true. I guess I'm looking for one that I would wear more than others. A nice one that I would wear for special occasions.

ZC is the board Avon aficionado, that's all.

I don't know why but some folks think that Haiku reminds them of Alfred Sung SHI which I believe is still sold in my local TJ Maxx. By the same nose as the latter is Banana Republic Wildbloom Vert.

Valentino Donna Rosa Verde might do.

    Dior Diorrissimo.

If you want to go niche, Jo Malone might be a good start.
Estee Lauder Pleasures can be found in many drug stores and is a good one.
    Lanvin Eclat d'Arpege
Also Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau Fresh.

I live in fear that I will find my signature scent. Then what would I do with the rest of my collection? Save them for when my beloved signature scent is inevitably reformulated, discontinued, or some other guy I’m dating decides he doesn’t like it? Oh, no. Owning many options is the best strategy for the risk averse.

Signature scent to me is impossible. Because these fragrances are made for masses of people. Even the smaller niche brands.

Enjoy the selection that is out there. Variety is the spice of life. Weather and moods change.

You do not have to have a lot of bottles. But just try out a lot of stuff...samples, decants, mini's...etc.
Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Pomegranate Noir, Midnight in Paris EDP, Feeling Man, Essence of John Galliano, Azzaro pour Homme (vintage),...etc.

Seeking decant/sample of Aramis Calligraphy Rose, Penhaligon's Esprit de Roi, PdE Ambre Russe, Jil Sander Feeling Man ....etc. I have samples to swap.

Misskpaul, there are scents in my cabinet that I wear more than others, but on the days when I want to smell like incense or leather or a fruit basket I know that I have choices. Wearing the same thing everyday is boring for me and for those around me.

Your signature is not the scent you wear, it's how you wear it. You don't want a perfumer to forge your autographs.

It’s ok to have a perfume you consider your signature scent. My wife’s signature scent is Chanel Coco Parfum. She also wears Allure and Gabrielle. She really likes the two Areej le Doré extraits I bought her, but the Coco in the parfum version what she will always revert back to and I love it on her. She’s worn it the majority of days for the 20 years we’ve been together.

    Disclaimer: I'm male.

J'Adore by Christian Dior. This perfume is super sexy. One whiff sends me instantly down memory lane. I can't imagine any man not liking it. One caveat is that it's in that age-range where it has saturated the market quite a bit, so lots of people have it and there's a very good chance when you try it, you will recognize several co-workers or other people in your life that have worn it. If those are unpleasant people or uniqueness is super-important to you, that might ruin it for you. But I would bet money, if I could, that your fiance will absolutely love it.

Update: It looks like J'Adore may have been reformulated, which sucks. My memories hark back to its heyday. Order a sample before committing to a whole bottle...

Update to my update: So, I was in the mall today and stopped by the women's fragrance counter to grab a quick sniff of J'Adore. Sadly, I must withdraw my prior recommendation. I'm not going to pan the fragrance but it's not the same as the original formulation. This isn't just a question of nostalgia, the new formulation does not have the level of quality that the original had. The original exuded real quality, sophistication, elegance. The new formulation seems to be targeted towards teens and young adults. I assume that makes business sense but, as far as the perfumery, there is absolutely no comparison between what is being sold over the counter under that name and the original.

Perhaps also, apart from so many great suggestions already mentioned, Chanel No. 19, Cristalle also by Chanel, Juniper Sling by Penhaligon's, Voyage d'Hermes Parfum by Hermes and Miss Dior might be worth (re) testing-if not as potential signature scents, at the very least appropriate for a signature rotation

While i don't want to have a signature scent if you do I say keep going for it. Keep going out to places that sell fragrances with no perfume, and try two each time. When you click with one you'll know it's right. Hang out around here and i bet you'll have a bunch on your to try list soon.
