It has yet to arrive, so I have no opinion, but we can definitely include it in VSS III using the “stuff I’ve got lots of” standard.

I will put some into an atomizer, wear it tomorrow, and report back. My initial impression (a sniff or two of the bottle) was an elegant herbal leather that was not definitively masculine leaning, but gender neutral.

    You win some…

    And you lose some:

This "sealed box" turned out thusly:

    PdP3a.jpg
    PdP4a.jpg

The only bottles with contents remaining are Lucien Lelong Passionnement and Lubin Gin Fizz: not worthless, but certainly not what I paid for.

Sadly I couldn't get myself to enjoy this one or Eau d'Hermes. A nice pickup regardless.

If Seller advertised it as sealed then that's a downright douche'y move.

Interresting. Never heard of Bally scent-wise. Any relations to the casino?

I've bought almost a dozen of those tourist coffrets and evaporation is often a problem, even in sealed sets. No way for seller to know.

My guess is it's more likely the shoe company.

Correct on both counts. There’s no connection between the now-defunct Bally Manufacturing after which the casino was named and fashion company Bally of Switzerland.

But I’m still asking for my money back on the minis.

If I were the seller I might fight you on that. If you buy a sealed package, with no ability to predict the contents, you're pretty much buying Schrodinger's perfume, n'est-ce pas?

Sealed but, dried up. Been there - done that. That, is the reason I no longer purchase vintage, sealed perfume online anymore. I want to see what I'm getting.

Sorry that happened to you, Pstoller!

I've also had Silver Lining experiences in that situation. I bought a sealed vintage 50ml Dior EDT from a highly respected Basenoter, and when opened it had evaporated by two-thirds. But when I tested it, it was divine; maybe a little top note loss, but the juice itself had condensed down to an extrait concentration, and was the best version of that scent I've ever smelled. So essentially I paid an EDT price for a half-ounce of pure parfum. I cherish it.

The cellophane wrapping was open on the ends, so it was possible to slide out the box and examine the bottles for fill level. Was it the seller's responsibility to do so? A fair matter of debate. But they can't argue lack of ability. This wasn't The Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults.

It wasn't a great deal of money, so if I lose, then I lose. But the buyer protections on eBay are substantial, so chances are I'll be reimbursed one way or another. I just have to weigh the seller's response against my options for leaving feedback.

I'm aware of the evap problems, but the reason I said that was because Stoller used quotation marks ("sealed box"), therefore I just assumed the box was wrongfully listed as sealed though it really wasn't.

In terms of being my best or most valuable, it's hard to say, but I have a special fondness for them because they kicked off my interest in vintage fragrances. I do think that, for the most part, they hold up very well against my other acquisitions.

May I know more about this version of Antaeus?
From which period do you think it is...? It is worth $80?

Was lucky to get a very old NIB vintage A*men 50ml blue package.
I know many here do not like A*men that much but I love it and I am very pleased with this find.
Very strong 2 spray max stuff this is and not to be compared with today's weak stuff.

My Top '11' of main current rotation in no particular order:

    - Paco Rabanne: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Antaeus (vtg)
    - Azzaro: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Armani: AdG Profumo
    - Alain Delon: Iquitos
    - Guerlain: Héritage (vtg)
    - Thierry Mugler: A*men
    - SA: Al Basel
    - D&G: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Mancera: Red Tobacco
    - Mancera: Aoud Vanille

"Eau de Toilette" above Chanel on bottle and box indicates older version. The 1626 batch code on the box is probably April 1984 (based on Raiders site). Is this same code etched on the bottle? The "W1X 3da" is a London post code, not a batch code.

If the bottle is fairly full and, most importantly, it passes the sniff test, I'd pay $80 for it. Good Luck!
