Tonight I'm going to a Neapolitan restaurant and will wear quite dandy clothes from Neapolitan tailors Kiton, Eidos and De Petrillo. Nothing extravagant, though.

I was very close to going with Bogue Maai (animalic first edition). In the end went with vintage Mouchoir de Monsieur from a rectangular bottle. This is so, so good. Whenever I wear this I remember that I need a lifetime supply, too bad it's very hard to track down these days. It's slightly dandy, but also more restrained and gentlemanly than Maai. Seems to be a good fit.

My vintage scent of the day is Givenchy Gentleman. Seeing CC and roro in Bijan for Men made me miss it a little, but I know this Givenchy will be a great ride.

    PSX_20200531_150342.jpg

Givenchy Gentleman and Bijan Men smell a little bit alike, but the way they perform is totally different. I'm not completely satisfied with either, but I'm not necessarily bothered, either.

Bijan Men starts out at its best, and by the end of the first hour, the fun is largely over. Givenchy Gentleman takes about that long to warm up, and then it's amazing, after a non-eventful opening.

I love those older Givenchy Gentleman bottles, Bavard! I think it's quite different from Bijan Man.

Today for me it's here because it's "vintage by virtue of being discontinued":

Just got this bottle in the mail (not EXACTLY this bottle, I stole the pic out of laziness cause my bottle looks the exact same) but mine was never sprayed, kept in a closet since the date indicated by the batch code: 1991. Smells amazing!

Sote is Kouros ('81). Gucci era. Man, I really dig this version! Smooth, balanced and still rich enough. And not overly animalic, which I'm okay with. What a treat.

It's a fresh, fruity/floral chypre, marketed as a feminine back in the 1960s-1980s. Quite nice. Nothing earth-shattering—it's not on the level of an old Guerlain (though I'd rather wear this than Shalimar, to be honest)—but then, not terribly expensive in the vintage market, either. I got it in a set of minis. I doubt I'll invest in a FB, but Mrs. S. liked it on me, and if she likes it as much or more on herself, I'd happily get her some more.

    No?
It is the dry tobacco kind and not sharp or anything but is covered in a lavender-vetiver and flowers combo and shines more during drydown.
It is a bit of the same tobacco kind and smell that is used in Aramis Havana but less prominent as in the Aramis.
