Boss Sport is one I can not get into. I have a mini in hand, prompted by similar outpourings in the past. I love the regular Boss - give me No. 1 on the back of the box, and leave it off the bottle, and I'm a happy camper.

They are not similar. Maybe is your mini turned off?
Normally you tend to like perfumes of this family.

I agree they're not similar, and nothing seems off about my mini. I think there's something in it - a green effect - I wish I could say what, exactly - that isn't a good fit for my tastes, or my style, maybe.

What about Xeryus? It comes to mind as another fragrance with a similar effect that's off-putting to me, but that most Basenoters seem to like.

The green (coniferous?) effect in Boss Sport is even more in a direction that makes it a pass for me - a sporty direction. Usually, I want a sports flanker to have sport in the name as a joke, but for it to really smell like regular perfume. Boss Sport actually smells like a young, sporty fragrance to me, like a Lacoste, maybe.

Xeryus is not something i would compare it to. I would say that Boss Sport is something between Marte, Boucheron pour Homme and Ettore Bugatti. It reminds me , at least partially, all the above mentioned.

Now about Xeryus, that was one of my father's fragrances and one i used to wear a lot as a teenager.
I still recognise that it a great perfume and bought several back up bottles along the time but i will agree with you Bavard i am not as attracted to it as i used to be.
There is a "heaviness" in it, an olfactory "abudance" that is overwhelming to my nose and prevents me from wearing it ofter.

You're in agreement with Hednic's notes on this one? You're wearing it, and not the other way around? You didn't go with heavy sprays, did you? I'd hate for you to have a situation at work.

    Hey Bavard!
    I haven't read hednic's notes.
This is a splash bottle, so I dab.
And don't worry, this is strictly a work-from-home scent!!

Hednic described it as "very nice." The ban on office wearing puts that to the question.

Happy 115th birthday to the father of my favorite vintage house, Christian Dior. I'll start off with his very first scent, Miss Dior (1947), and end the day with his second, and my current favorite of his entire line, Diorama (1949).

    You did good, Chris.

I have. I had a mini. I think I gave it away. At first I found it shocking, and clearly oud-y. Over time, I actually started to like it, and got the big effect that people enjoy.

I used to think I'd never wear vintage Antaeus to work, but when I did, I thought it smelled amazing, and no one even seemed to notice. In that spirit, I bet Balenciaga Pour Homme might not ruffle too many feathers.

Today was the day I finally opened this one up and gave it a try. It was fun peeling off the shrunken, brittle cellophane.
A reviewer likened it to Fidji and Madame Rochas. I get that.

I don't recall ever hearing this mentioned before. It sounds nice and green, and I do love a cedary base. Is that a parfum you have there?
