    this one is super elegant. It is a coat-and-tie fragrance to me, very formal. I'm wearing it in shorts in Florida on the beach. Who cares.

    This is a 1990s I think based upon the evidence. Really a terrific scent in the old school masculine style.

    Basenotes has as it often does an attenuated notes list. Doesn't mention patchouli which even I pick up.

    The Other Site says the notes are these.

    Top notes are aldehydes, caraway, juniper berries, lavender, galbanum, basil, sage, anise and bergamot;

    middle notes are cyclamen, carnation, patchouli, cinnamon, vetiver, cedar and geranium;

    base notes are labdanum, leather, sandalwood, musk and oakmoss.
    FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

    I haven’t tried the Parfum Extrait, but I prefer Samsara EdP over Egoiste. I find Samsara has a relaxed and a happy personality with jasmine and sandalwood notes in prominence. I wonder if the jasmine note in Samsara bothers you or not?

    SOTD for today was Egoiste Platinum.

    I enjoy wearing both but personally I feel more comfortable wearing Egoiste in casual settings. The florals - ylang ylang, iris, and jasmine florals do make it harder to wear casually.

    How did the combination work for you? I could imagine it blending in rather nicely.

    Long story short, between me taking over a new role with my company end of last year and just life I kinda lost focus on hobbies. In the middle of everything, my wardrobe sat mostly untouched. Just wearing a crown jewel here and there for events etc. Looking back on how much fragrance has not been worn over the last few months by me, it’s kinda sad. That’ll improve though.

    Layering is always nice. Vintage Aftershaves have a higher proportion of animal based Cephlaxin and Oils that work well on my face . Work well as a deodorant as well. EDT's tend to irritate my face and armpits.
