Never tried GE. How does it strike you?,,,,
I rather like and prefer the Golden Edition. I have to qualify by saying that my wearing of Knize Ten (not the GE) was from a sample of the current version, and not vintage, so I don't know if it has changed dramatically or not. But to me, the only significant difference between the two, to my nose, is the opening. The GE has left out the floral opening and starts straight away with the leather. The mid and base are about the same, IMHO. I can certainly say that the GE has excellent longevity.

Sounds good to me! Current K10 is still very good and certainly miles better than most designer-stuff of today, imo. Now I HAVE to try the Golden Edition just for the leathery difference in the opening, which really appeals to me. I love the drydown of the original. It's simply a very good fragrance, I think. Thanks, Aero!

A friend has offered to send me a sample of the EDP, which I guess is quite a bit different from the one called Orig. 1949.
I see what you mean about the packaging. The ribbed bottle really gives the new Moustaches a nice throwback look.

I bought a bottle of the new 'Original 1949' thinking I'd give it to the boyfriend, but I like it so much I'm keeping it for a summer scent. True there's no civet, but what remains is a very decent scent, and a tremendous bargain. And the bottle is gorgeous, even nicer than the original. So heavy you could lose a toe if your dropped it on your foot.

After reading every comment I could find about the new EDP, I decided I didn't need it.

The glass looks really thick at the bottom. I'd like to see a bottle in person. Unfortunately, the EDT seems not to be available in this market. The EDP is, but it ain't cheap.

I know someone who would gladly hold a bottle for you until your next U.S. trip.

I got mine from this small New Jersey shop. It's gone up $10 since then, but still a major bargain:
