    Default Perfuwoman Formulas are Gone!

Perfuwoman on livejournal.com used to have a bunch of formulas posted for free, now they are for cash only! Do you guys happen to have any of these saved? I happened to track down a few, I would be happy to share. I am looking the the CK1 formula in specific, but any others would be great to post for everyone! Thanks guys!

Again archive.org is your friend - like the help section......

Honestly the fact that this woman is now selling those formulas is rather questionable. She does not own any rights. Publishing them is one thing, but asking for money to reveal other people's intellectual property is outright criminal activity. Like in the old mp3 days when websites were selling songs they downloaded off the internet, leaving out the artist and everyone else involved.

Well, as with all of them, she has a formula named after a famous perfume, but it's unlikely to be close at all in the formula to the original.

I have given good attention to many of the formulas she published, but have not made any as personal judgment is they are going to differ a lot from the real things. That is not to say it wouldn't still be productive and educational to try any, it's just that I don't take them really to be guidance towards finding a close formula. Ideas towards them, though, absolutely.

I may have the "Coty Chypre" on my home computer but there's also the possibility that as I often do, I trimmed out parts of the formula that weren't meeting my personal interest, so I might not have the complete one. I will see.

(Many times I'd rather have a sketch of main skeleton than a complete formula and if I had everything complete, I'd have to cut through what is to me noise a second time, quicker to see that I've already boiled something down. Of course if I had a genuine formula I would not do that, every line would be precious.)

where is the Iso E which makes up a good portion of the original formula? I am sure these "copies" are fine in their own right, but certainly not the actual formulas. good fun though I am sure.

    Regarding the Fahrenheit . . . . . - thing.
Uh, Yeah, missing 21.7% Iso E Super.
Also doesn't fairly represent the musks, which is nearly 20%
and also doesn't mention the importance of Methyl Heptine Carbonate, or Methyl Octine Carbonate.
Beta Ionone is also way out of whack, as it is really only at 0.05%

And how do you lump together Beta Ionone and Violet leaf? They are not related.

I'd seen this formula , as it was sent to me before I knew a lot more, but even at the time it seemed farcical. Now I just laugh at it's absurdity.

I would recommend saving those while one can.

While there are a lot less formulas in there than there seem to be at first glance, because most formulas get repeated many times with only very slight variation, my opinion is they appear to be at least actual commercial formulas used by some company at some time, or developed commercially within some company at some time rather than being amateur guessing of how to dupe a famous perfume. (I don't have the impression they are Brechbill's own formulas.) So there are real things to learn within them. I've never seen anything in them that I thought absurd.

I cant recall word for word and I'm not too inclined to look, but I think he said he worked for Johnson and Johnson and has a particularly sour taste of his time in the industry; he also interestingly said that he has never made any of the formulas. One of his pdf's go into the whole story. I made one of his fougeres and it was OK and would need some serious tweaking to be satisfying to me, I can't decide if its because I used a particularly poor quality of lavender EO or not.

While it was free information, when they were freely posted, and I downloaded all of them, I actually never bothered to make a single one of those formulas posted by Brechbill. Possibly my loss. :-) But I just never seemed too terribly impressed with them.

Combined with his complete refusal to interact or engage with the Community, I guess I just dismissed him wholesale. Maybe undeservedly so.

Hmm, Well the GC that I have for Drakkar Noir has DHM at 7.8%, and Benzyl Sal at 20+%
Also has 2.5% Corymbolone, which of course, we can't buy.

Honestly, to have 15% DHM in a formula makes me shudder, and my teeth feel like they are grinding together..

In the last month i'm searching about the coty's chypre, and i came across with the brechbill chypre book, i saved the link (in the former site of mr. Brechbill). At the last week i revisited and the link is broken ! So, i start to search more about, and i discovered the domain are lost by years, and only one site still offers some books, not all. Rapidly seeing the content, appears to have very goodly informations, each formula book is accompanied with a book listing lots of material names sometimes with descriptions, i judge these lasts are in equal importance of the formula books. If the formulas are good or no, is good to give directions, like the tgsc. All other books have relevance too, however some are lost now (especialy the spice's formulas, by many years). I say this because perhaps some people does't know him, and can help people that are begginers like me, before all be completely lost.

On your interest in Coty Chypre, I expect you have already noticed but for anyone with the same interest, the formula Brechbill gives as an intended dupe of it is at https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/re...res-fragrance- on page 85. Many of the ingredients could not possibly have been in the original, so it can't be the closest dupe possible, but that's not to say it may not give ballpark similar effect. I haven't tried it. I do expect it is highly compromised for cost.

E.g., if I wanted something faithful to a classic from the early 1900's, I wouldn't use Galaxolide and Traseolide as my main musks (157 ppt combined), if at all and I can't really visualize using DHM. (Not to say that artful low dose use might not work, given other ingredients.)
