Default How long does a fragrance last after production?

    Hi

I purchased a bottle of creed himalaya from All Beauty before Christmas and have since discovered that the batch is 2016 (I think anyway, it’s S3916G01, ref 1110039).

I’m pretty sure the pump wasn’t primed when first used it so was an unused bottle and from what I can see from what to look at I’m reasonable confident it isn’t fake.

Should I be concerned with its age though?

    Thanks for any advice

    Nick

Hello, Nick, and welcome to Basenotes!

The short answer to your question is no, you don't have to worry about it.
The longer answers is - if fragrance is well kept (that is - away from direct light, heat and too much humidity and with the cap on), it will be good for decades.
It means a bathroom, a windowsill or a car is not the best place to store your fragrances - a wardrobe or a drawer or even a vanity desk away from the window is much better.
That said, I've been keeping my most worn fragrances in the bathroom for years and nothing happened (yet). (I'm more cautious with the ones I use more rarely and really want to last me for many years)

A recent discussion about this is just a few threads down: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/472...ing-shelf-life - you might find some more useful information here.

Thanks for your quick and detailed response, that sets my mind at ease, it’s my first purchase of such an expensive fragrance (usually just stick with the normal designer types)

I’ve always tried to keep my fragrances in their boxes and in my wardrobe so relatively cool and certainly dark.

I’ll read through that thread too now

    Thanks again
    Nick

No, just keep it stored well.

Fragrances if stored well can last for many decades.

Especially in this case, its age should not be any concern.

Or for that matter, with almost no fragrances - both current and vintage ones included as well - whatsoever, since they can last you for decades with unchanged, not decreased performance, even more so if stored right.
