Default Do you wear perfume for workouts?

I’m probably in a minority here, but I enjoy applying perfume before working out. The reason being that the rise in body temperature amplifies the perfume and allows me to smell it more fully than when I’m at rest. I try to be respectful and not wear it to group classes, but mostly when I hit the treadmill by myself. Still I get the hostile sniffs (we’ve all experienced them) from nearby athletes on nearby treadmills and ellipticals, but oh well... how about you guys?

N9, at least not specifically l for workouts though I might still have some residual skin scent from my SotD. I usually avoid the peak hours anyway.

To answer the thread question, when I was younger and regularly worked out, never wore fragrance for workouts. Only after I was finished and showered.

Gym etiquette would be a hard no, but you're expected to be clean and fresh.

Yep I do. I've actually gotten many compliments at the gym surprisingly.

I think the etiquette is not to smell bad. Smelling good is a very good thing at the gym. Nothing worse than intense BO

Yes. Not a lot, but I use about two sprays of something light and fresh. I enjoy it. It distracts my nose from some of the unpleasant gym smells and sort of keeps me feeling refreshed too. On the rare occasions when I smell another guy wearing cologne in the gym I usually don't mind it. I'll take it over BO any day.

The best fragrance I've ever worn for working out and sports is Givenchy Play Sport. It's a nice one, which genuinely seems meant for wearing during physical activity. It's a light mint, citrus and lavender fragrance with a subtle breezy aquatic tone.

I have a gym at home now, so I don't usually spray something on just to work out, I'll wear whatever I've put on earlier in the day. When I had a gym membership, I would normally wear a spritz or two of D&G Light Blue because it's light, fresh, and energizing. It never bothered me when people wore fragrance; my personal pet peeve is when they go to the gym and it's obvious they haven't bothered to take a shower that day before they get there. Gross!

Same. I wear fragrances anywhere at anytime. I do make sure not to overdue it, and I’ve never had a bad look or comment. Plus, I pretty much only wear Niche fragrances which are usually imo not strong projection offenders anyway.

That IS indeed surprising. I guess it depends on the kind of gym one goes to.

Cologne overload is not much better than deodorant deficiency IMO. Gyms are for resistance training and cardiovascular conditioning, not for fragrance group sharing. Anyway ‘good’ is still subjective. What smells awesome to the wearer may be awful to another.

I only exercise at home or outdoors so I'm wearing whatever I'm wearing at the time. I've not been to a gym since school but I'd imagine I'd rather get a whiff of perfume than of some dude's butt juice.

Believe it or not, I actually got complimented on Baikal Gris at the gym. TWICE. I didn't wear it to the gym on purpose, just decided to go to the gym early after applying it about 1-2 hours earlier. Normally I wear something light to the gym, Kolonya has been the first choice most times.

I actually had a training partner who used to make fun of me for having a shower before my workout. It’s not just the idea of pulling fresh training gear on to old sweat that messes with me, I just like the mental refreshment and opportunity to leave the day behind before hitting the iron. It’s like a quick meditation and preparation ritual.

No perfume afterwards, but I don’t really find fresh sweat to be a problem for most people ... it’s just sharp and salty.

Yes, vintage Leather Oud. Gotta assert my alpha status.

I also curl in the squat rack, take up multiple pieces of equipment at once for my super sets and circuits, drop the weights, grunt loudly, and never, ever rerack weights or plates. Alpha AF, brah.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

Apart from strong effect and either unscented or, the very least, mildly/almost neutrally scented deodorants, not wearing anything at all for workouts.

If however would still choose a certain fragrance for working out, it would most likely be pretty much along the lines of the aforementioned options, more precisely including but not limited to the following characteristics, namely: low, minimal, to at most moderate projection, fresh, clean, either aquatic and/or airy smelling, bracing, uncluttered, simple, preferably all these and more at once.

I usually work out in the morning at my gym and never put any on beforehand. However, I can still sometimes pick up my SOTD from the day before; no one has commented, so I'm assuming it's not enough for others to notice.

Before I hit the gym, I douse 5 bottles of By Kilian's entire collection layered with Tuscan Leather. Then I follow that up with cumin and horse manure. The gym clears out!
