Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Friday, 17th January, 2020

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Happy Birthday lneespenes!

Decided to go with Creed Fleur de The Rose Bulgare . I really don't have anything that sounds challenging but went with this one as I haven't worn this in a long time.

Happy Birthday to lneespenes! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

I started today in sync with Tubéreuse 1 Capricieuse by HdP. About an hour later, I decided to add some Valentino Poudre because of a couple of notes that are in both scents. I was curious to sniff them side by side but it turns out they are quite different to each other.

    Happy Friday all!

Have a wonderful day and even better year! I also hope you'll enjoy your birthday perfume very much!

I'm your scent twin with Le baiser du Dragon today. I find it safe enough for work when applied lightly... The hard part is to actually apply it lightly

Hello, and happiest of birthdays, Ine

So, today's sync. I have a few options, mostly due to not being sure *how* to pronounce them - and often finding when speaking with someone at one of the meet ups (or an SA) that our pronounciations are not in agreement.

I have two front-runners, and would appreciate input from you all about how to pronounce:

The one I didn't wear, Ysatis (which I pronounce "Sat-EES" [sibilant "s" on both ends]) and

My choice both yesterday when I thought it was Friday, and again today because it's delicious, Serge Lutens Chergui

I have always pronounced "Chergui" as "Shehr-GHEE" (like the clarified butter), but I think that's probably wrong, and it might be "Shehr-GWEE" or easily something else. Help me out here, people. :thanks:

Fantastic Friday to each and every one of you!

Chergui fragrance notes: Hay sugar, Iris, Rose, Honey, Musk, Incense, Tobacco, Amber, Sandalwood.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

My take for Ysatis is ee-sah-tees, and Chergui is shehr-gee.

I was thinking about Jicky because of the letter J. French folk give it the soft zhe sound, Americans the hard J, and Germans the altogether different sound of ch, thus chicky. My German grandparents called my cousin Janet "Chanet," and me "Choy." But I'm not in the mood for Jicky today, so I'm looking through my wardrobe some more. Back later ...

Nailed it ... apparently this is the one I've been misprouncing: Hanae Mori. I've said it as four syllables, HAH-nay MOR-ree, but it's five.
    Wiki: həˌnɑːeɪ ˈmɔːri
My interpretation of the audible: HAH-nah-eh mo-REE.

Hello and best to everyone. Happy birthday, Ine!

SOTD is L’ Parfumeur Œillet Sauvage. I have heard “œillet” pronounced “oh yeh” - fairly easy - but for some reason I always stumble over it whenever see it. Anyway, the perfume itself is a gorgeous carnation scent.

Wish you all a good day and weekend.
