    Default Quorum

    Hello Basenoters,
last week I bought a supposedly vintage splash bottle of Quorum.
    82224604_770350293461789_6137199822907637760_n.jpg
When I received it I noticed that it had a barcode on the bottom so it must be not all that vintage...
I really like it, it reminds me on the opening notes of Fahrenheit, then a bit of Aramis (this is the part that I like less). They drydown is smooth and clean, in the same vein as PRPH vintage.
The problem is that it lasts 1 hour, it think it's the newer-weaker formulation.
In the meantime I bought another bottle, this time a 125Ml Vapomatic that should be a real vintage, I can't wait to have it!
    Have a nice day,

    Marco

Can still be older maybe 1990 ish formulation even with the bar code. Good luck with the incoming bottle.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

looks like mid-vintage, one of my favorite colognes but i find absolutely zero similarities to Fahrenheit or aramis. looks like used splash and maybe has started to turning bad.
quorum is a fresh, piny, soapy, mossy total opposite of aramis and fahrenheit.

    I'm sorry I didn't explain it well.

In the opening notes I smell something that I smell as well in Fahrenheit, I didn't mean they are similar. Maybe the bergamot / lemon they both have.
After I while I can definitely smell a bitter / harsh note, don't know what is it, that I can smell in Aramis (a recent bottle)

I also smell a little of Drakkar Noir.

I'll be more precise when I receive the new (old formulation) 125Ml Bottle.

    Have a nice day,
    Marco

Dear Marco this bottle is the first version of Quorum.
I owe it too and mine has also a barcode at the bottom.
    But mine is pretty strong.
I haven’t smelled a watered downed version of Quorum, even the modern one is powerful.
I also don’t find similarities between Quorum Fahrenheit and Aramis.

Yes it can be relatively old. Barcodes were introduced in 1974 and instantly became very popular, used extensively, all through the late 1970s and beyond!

My thoughts are more like from1990 for fragrance bar codes.

Quorum was introduced in 1982, and all versions had a barcode as Antonio Puig was (and still is) a drugstore brand. I have the spray aftershave and have had good experience with it thus far.

    My apologies.
Yesterday I opened a Fahrenheit vial to make a comparison with Quorum. No similarities at all. I don't know why I've been misled when I first smelled Quorum... Definitely the opening note I get from Quorum is similar to Drakkar noir. But I still get the middle bitter stingy note. Shouldn't it be there?

If I understand you correctly, even the earliest bottles had barcodes?
I have a 30ml bottle with box that has no barcode. Stamped on the box is the code 8D02. 1988? 1982? Neither?
I'll try to take some pics tomorrow.

Incidentally, it was with this fragrance that I had my "A-ha!" moment vis--vis oakmoss. Up until then, I thought I knew the smell of oakmoss but wasn't really sure.

Yes, it seems like they did.
Mine has a barcode and also stamped on the box 0K02. Also a 30 ml splash first edition bottle.
I don’t know what the rest of my backups are the same (30 ml first editions splash and spray bottles).

    1974??

A simple search on Google, will confirm that.

Hoping that both the upcoming purchase and also the currently shown bottle do reach both the performance level and its distinctive powerhouse style known from the vintage Quorum.

Here's that bottle I talked about. Based on the box design, and since it has no barcode, I've always assumed it dates to the 1980s.
In terms of scent, it's definitely got a lot more heft than the new 100ml bottle I bought on Amazon in 2012.

    Yeah that would be '88 w/o barcode, and MM's a '90 w/ barcode
