Default Keeping track of your collection

How do you all track and log your collection? As mine continues to grow, I sometimes forget what I've purchased and when. I'm looking for suggestions on creating a database of some kind to record purchases, costs (how depressing) and, maybe, my opinion on each scent. I'd love to hear how everyone does this (I'm particularly looking at you, hednic )

Compared to some BN members, my collection is small (120+ bottles plus many samples), and I keep track of it in longhand in a notebook with dedicated pages listing fragrance families, concentrations, vintages, date of purchases and sellers. There are many crossover notations, but even so it's not hard to stay current if you write something down as soon as you buy or receive it. There are software programs for keeping track of collections, but I don't have any familiarity with them.

Keep all receipts for cost, purchases, and the perfume database for opinions on the scents.

Does a database for this already exist somewhere or is everyone just creating their own? Is there a commercial product for collectors? Just curious...

I do not use anything for this.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

I created a personal database for this purpose.

My wardrobe on Fragrantica is also pretty close to current also.
    Current Summer Favorites:

    1. Xerjoff - Nio
    2. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
    3. Dior - Homme Cologne 2013
    4. The Different Company - De Bachmakov
    5. Armani - Code Sport Athlete
    6. Montale - Aoud Legacy
    7. Dior - Homme Sport 2008
    8. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven

Those wardrobe pictures on Fragrantica are so small, I can't even tell what I'm looking at!

All you have to do is hover over the picture and the fragrance name pops up. The wardrobe here is also useful for this purpose.

I know, it just takes too long when I need specific info, compared to the Basenotes wardrobe feature. Neither one of them allow for notes, so I just use my notebook.

OP this one, works great and shows how often you wear a fragrance and last date you wore it I personally love those two features.

I created a Microsoft Access database quite a while ago to log my huge collection. I'd be lost without it.

For now, just the BN wardrobe, but I've been pretty lax about smelling notes, and as my memory isn't that great—probably from sniffing too many fragrances—I should really start recording more of my impressions.

BN wardrobe, which has the unfortunate side-effect of preventing me from buying anything they haven't yet added to the directory.

Twofold: even at 250 bottles I can differentiate whether or not I own a bottle (though not explicitly recall all 250 from memory).

Basenotes wardrobe. More useful for daily wear tracking than inventory. The database is updated in a very biased manner (e.g. we're still waiting on submissions from 2019, 2018 to be added, whereas some random Issey Miyake release from a month ago gets added), so it's not perfect.

I have several scents I've owned for a while but do not wear since they're not in the database. I'm getting increasingly salty about it. If I were a Basenotes Plus member, I'd be furious.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Sounds like Basenotes Wardrobe is a good solution to try. I didn’t know it existed...and I’ve been a Plus member for almost a year. Embarrassing!

Basenotes and Fragrantica wardrobe options. Also Parfumo, but I'm behind on that one..

It's really great for letting you spot what you have in a split second - just doesn't allow for data about your particular bottle (provenance, vintage, etc.).

I used to log on BN, now I just wear what ever I'm in the mood for and try to keep my collection to whatever I like wearing and get rid of the ones that I don't. Which I don't have many that I don't like left in my wardrobe.

You don't buy it if it's not in the directory?

I prefer not to keep track of it (I just add the fragrance to the wardrobe in order I can change my SOTD). I would prefer if there weren’t a number above the names of the fragrances of my wardrobe in here. That number is disturbing. I hate to see it grow but I’m lazy about making it get down.

I've thought about saving an excel file but don't know if I want to go down that road.
