In the way I’m drawn to certain musicians/musical groups, clothing designers, painters and particular regional food choices so too am I sometimes I’m reminded that I’m drawn to certain olfactory designers. While known especially for his work at Hermès I’m reminded that I could probably follow Jean Claude Ellena wherever he goes. Whatever his philosophy in scent is (that which he incidentally doesn’t even wear himself) I’m seemingly more often drawn his direction. I’ll be sure to spend more time with his Malle offerings in 2020.

Remind me of many scents of SL in each phase of this fragrance, especially Chene (Dry Wood) and Fille En Aiguilles (Pine Needle).

This seems like a good pick for today where I am. I picked Fico di Amalfi, but Declaration could've easily been as good of a pick for me today. I still have a sample of this somewhere. Haven't bought a bottle 'yet', still considering it.

    SOTE
    Mellifluence
    Patchouli Tobacco

"On the skin Patchouli Tobacco starts with a soft and warm glow like a small fire deep in the woods. The floral elements are deep and linger in the base and heart notes, surrounded by aged woods. The tobacco is overt yet smoothly blended into the woody and floral elements.
The Guiacwood takes the high notes, but again it is subtle and harmonised woth the other facets. The Laos Super Grade Oud lurks in the very base of the attar giving it a stong woody core.

"I used a fair amount of civet in this attar too, but it does not make it animalic or unpleasant in any way, it helps the floral elements shine and brings all of the notes tightly together in one powerful and harmonious scent."

Base Notes: Oriental Tobacco, Burley Tobacco, Laos Super Grade Oud, Patchouli Absolute

Heart Notes: 1991 Cade, Indian Patchouli 2017, Indian Patchouli 1992, Civet

Top Notes: Guiacwood, 1990 Birch, Patchouli Heart
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.
