Default Opinions on current batches of Versace Eros?

I'm considering purchasing Versace Eros, I'd appreciate any input on the quality of the recent batches eros. I've read mostly negative things online; however, some people claim it's going just as strong as ever.

    Whats your experience?

Also, if you do not recommend Versace Eros, then what fragrance of a similar vibe would you recommend?

    Thank You.

    I like Eros.

You're not gonna find a ton of love for it on here because its a designer fragrance, its pretty loud, its "youthful" (and sweet), there's nothing subtle about it, it doesn't feel very refined or complex..

But it smells good. I like it, my wife likes it.. Its a pretty loud fragrance no matter which batch you buy. I have 2013 and 2015 bottles and had a current sample, and there is not much difference, certainly not as much as the people whining about reformulation on fragrancenet would have you believe.

The fragrances that you have in your basenotes wardrobe are substantially better than Eros, getting Eros would be a downgrade.

I’m sorry to say but imho Eros is BAD, very bad. It’s all synthetic, densely sweet and coying. It’s like taking the worse of the coying sweet female designer frags and putting them into a men’s designer frag. It was one if the first fragrances I’ve ever owned and it showed me that a fragrance could be appealing on first sniff and revolting after several days of wear. I’m glad it set me on the path towards finding ‘good’ fragrances.

If your looking for a sweet fragrance, I think it’s really important to get a very well made fragrance with quality (preferably natural) ingredients. Cheap, low quality sweet frags are a gross mess of coying chemicals.

I think MFK and Xerjoff are good houses to look into as they do sweet frags really well. I’ve also heard that slumberhouse is fantastic but haven’t tried them myself. I just have MFK and Xerjoff samples, I think I’ll defer to others here with full bottles to make specific frag recommendation. But at least lookup slumberhouse, these artisan perfume houses are the way to go, you won’t regret it.

Edit: sorry to be so blunt but it had to be said.
PPS: I’ll sell you my ombré leather if you want it. Estimated at 98% full. Not in the Eros genre but an excellent designer frag that one shine as one if the best in your wardrobe. PM me if you want it.

I thought it was awful from when I first tried it when it first came out. I would recommend something like Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme as an alternative although I'm not fond of that one myself.

I think it’s fine for what it is and its price point - it’s a very simple, sweet club banger that should be reserved for cold weather usage and minimal sprays. Yeah, it’s not Chergui, but it’s also not even a third of the price, so the proposition for ownership and their relative places in a collection are never going to correlate, IMO.

I’ve only got a 19 bottle and it’s still nuclear. Two sprays max and if I wear it in the evening it will be on my bedsheets for a couple of days.

To be honest, club bangers have never been my style - if you do go down that track, then Paco Rabanne 1 Million and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male will get you in the same territory for about the same price point with different note structures.

If you don’t need the nuclear projection, then N Cal Fragrance Reviewers suggestion of Allure Homme Edition Blanche actually has a very similar note structure as Eros bar the mint, tonka and ambroxan, but plays out with far more class. It’s double what you’d pay for Eros, but certainly worth it in my mind, as it’s far more subtle and versatile... and straight up more pleasant to wear.

The main question I’d ask is what would you like to get out of your purchase. For great performance, a young aesthetic and simple thrills without overthinking it, Eros is fine.

Apparently it is much weaker than it once was.

In my opinion it's ok, nothing more. I found it actually very underwhelming. I was expecting a successor to PR's 1 Million.

Layton takes the essence of Eros and improves it.

Sprayed a test strip the other day in Sephora. Smells the same as always. Generic, but not bad.

It's much weaker and it smells more citric. It doesn't last and I find it very disappointing. I was going to buy a full bottle just for nostalgic purposes, but the performance and smell has changed.

This is 100% true (well, Reventon quoted the wrong Allure - Edition Blanche is a peppery/vanilla citrus and NOT the same as Eros, which is mostly vanilla/mint/tonka) Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme is very VERY similar to Eros - I own it as well for the simple reason that it accomplishes a similar thing that Eros does, but does so in a classier way. AHSEE is also Tonka and Mint, but its minus the apple and vanilla, with some mandarin and musk instead.

Honestly, I think I just wanted to add the Iconic bottle to my wardrobe more than anything....

The word you're looking for is "cloying", with an "L".

    cloy
    /kloi/
    verb
    gerund or present participle: cloying
disgust or sicken (someone) with an excess of sweetness, richness, or sentiment.

I’m thinking EDP because that’s what’s on my shelf not as peppery, much more vanilla.

But bang on, Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme would be a better correlation for sure

You are correct. Thank you sir.

If only talking about its performance, the current batches do have good results.

If however wanting something with similar notes, good performance and additional complexity within a largely similar price category or at least comparable performance relative to the total price, would rather prefer and recommend Bleu de Chanel EDP, the Parfum/EDP version of Dior Sauvage, Versace l'Homme, Best of Chevignon.

My advice for you would be to just go to a department store and try it for yourself. You're not going to get much positive feedback here in regards to Eros. But, if you like it...who cares.

    The most potent versace fragrance.
I really liked it at first but one day i wore it and after 9 hours it smelled really synthetic and kind of made me sick. But it was made as an answer to 1 million.
It's very cloying even more than le male.
I like it but it could have been more refined for sure.
I think pour homme and versace man are better and more subtle. Eros is a rare case of "too much".
The vanilla in eros could give someone diabetes..
it's that sweet. CH 212 sexy men is a better alternative i think. The bottle and packaging of eros is very luxurious and i think that's where versace invested their money mainly. I have a 200ml bottle and i seriously wonder how im ever going to finish this monster.
