I'm definately posting some feedback on it.
I'll pass on the listing, with shipping to Denmark plus a way lower fill than advertised, it'll get way too expensive. Thanks, though. I don't get to see many US listings over here

That one came much later, no later than 1990s if I had to guess.

Definitely within the vintage category. I'm curious of how the after shave lotion fares to the EDT bottles.

This is the rounder bottle so you're looking at the 2nd version, later part of the 80s.

Hi Reviewer, I got the photo from the internet. Actually, my bottle is the EDT, but the design is the same. Sorry for the wrong info.

I believe the aftershave is quite potent at 75% alc. I think it was Avecesar who bought one and was quite impressed with it.

Based on my amateur nose, the aftershave is lighter and brighter although faithful to the edt version, which goes deeper with time. The aftershave tends to turn into a skin scent faster. I use the aftershave (decanted to an atomizer) for very casual events or as intended--as an aftershave--which really goes well with a few sprays of the EDT. I also have the newer 2012 givenchy gentleman too which I like. The newer version is leathery than the patchoulis of both AS and EDT.

Well said. Based on your description, I think I have the after shave pegged. I'm all about the base with Givenchy Gentleman. I've tried vintage after shaves of a few: Antaeus, Derby, Bel Ami. They can be mighty fine.

I believe those 109-ml splash bottles are as original as it gets.

I should clarify. The AS basically disappears in about 3 hours, even less. It's an enjoyable scent though fleeting.

I own also both AS and EDT and, yes, the EDT is stronger, no question about that. I have decanted the AS into an atomizer which is delivering much more liquid than the sprayer of my EDT bottle so, basically, I "over spray" the AS. This compensates partially the difference of perfume oil concentration of the AS (1-3%) versus the EDT (4-8%) and I get more than 3 hours longevity but still not equivalent to the EDT.I know that the AS contains additional ingredients to take care of the skin but I have no idea on how they interact with the scent...

A couple first edition sprays, an aerosol and a natural spray. The natural spray probably gives you a little more satisfaction in the early stages, but they're indistinguishable within the hour - just a guess. Sometimes the propellant itself needs to burn off, maybe.

Your natural spray tester lists notes of patchouli, sandalwood, and Russian Leather. It sounds yummy.

People who like Givenchy Gentleman may also want to check out Jules. That's more of a Russian Leather, I think.

Yeah, the natural spray is thicker in smell...but a bit harsher in the beginning while the aerosol is smoother and transparent.
After maximum 30 min. they are the same, exactly same.

I love Jules too. My soul signature...since highschool when I was dabbing my miniature on my arm sniffing the hell out of it (not in the best shape...it was smelling only green, nothing animalic) every morning untill I got my first 100ml partial spray bottle (manufactured in 1981) and last year got my 200ml splash (from release year, 1980) that will last me some time, hehe.

Very nice! Those bottle-types, like my '70s Paco Rabanne Pour Homme aerospray tester also, are really chunky and hefty. Love the feel of them.

They both have such a classy backbone...I feel like Jules feels like late 50s early 60s while Gentleman 70s all day.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bavard! Never smelled Jules but've always wanted to.
I know it's a tall order, but can you describe the 'russian leather' note/accord, as opposed to 'leather' (although 'leather' can be a pretty diverse style)?

I just know a couple fragrances called Cuir de Russie (Chanel and Godet?), and those are more like Jules than Givenchy Gentleman, to my nose.

Overall, up to now, I still have a slight preference for Givenchy Gentleman, although Jules is always on the rise.

L.T Piver is also offering Cuir de Russie since 1939. It is supposed to smell like the leather of Cossacks boots ... I have never smelled Cossacks boots
