    Default Time to stop buying...

In little over 6 weeks I have bought...

Tom Ford Beau de Jour signature
    Diptyque Phylosikos
    Tom of Finland
    Carner Cuirs
    Histories Des Parfums 1740

    That’s €700 of scent

After the initial adrenaline blast of a new purchase... I’m not certain I will wear any with any regularity except the Diptyque.

In addition, I have full bottles in cellophane wrap of Aventus (too common amongst my peers) and Nudiflorum along with half used bottles of each and have in total over 80plus bottles of scent( having disposed of another 20.)

My favourites are K10, Nasomatto Nudiflorum and philosikos. Nudiflorum and Philisikos are regular compliment getters. K10 got one in a cafe at the weekend (more surprisingly...)

My wife’s favourite is and alway will be adp colonia. If I just wore this she would be happy.
I like it a LOT but it does not last. This is my biggest issue.

She also likes Aventus and tolerates the rest including the Nasomatto, Malles, the Chanels, the Diors, etc.

After spending so much, so quickly I am asking myself...Is it time to admit there will be not one scent that will be my all day everyday scent?

Certainly think I need to slow down on the purchases.

    I want a scent that

A... lasts all day (I leave the house at 6.30am and am home at 7.30pm),
B... is appealing to the other sex(especially the Mrs.)
C... stops me dropping cash on the hunt.

Should I just make peace with the longevity of the ADP Colonia and just spray all day...

    /T

Start buying samples instead of full bottles and test them to see if it's your thing.
2 ml sample will last you for 5-7 days, enough to asses the fragrance

Have you tried Clive Christian 1872 for Men? I get much better performance from that than from Colonia.

Are you just blind buying full bottles left and right trying to find ONE regular fragrance to wear?

    Start buying samples or decants.

B - we can't really guess what she likes... however, you should consider:

    Xerjoff Mefisto
    TF Tobacco Vanille
    Nicolai New York Intense

They're all quite strong and well liked by most women(I think)

Enjoy what you have, also know anything worn day in and day out will eventually grow boring just how it works. Rotation of your favorites is key, you will eventually find what works for you.

Sounds like you have a great pool of fragrances to choose from already. I know the allure of the next "it" fragrance, the one we're constantly after. I don't have much new to add from what's been said above - enjoy what you have and get more samples. I've slowed down too and am heeding the advice above. You can also start to cull down your collection - either by selling or giving away. That helps justify the next purchase, hopefully coming out of testing. That way you can limit your purchases to only ones you (and the missus) truly love and enjoy.

My newest one to come out of this process was Xerjoff's Mefisto Gentiluomo and that one hit it out of the park for me. Good luck and report back what you end up doing!

I'm close to the point of slowing down as well. I've accumulated a lot in the past few months....just a few more I'd like to track down.

I've been saying this for weeks now. Over the last two months I have purchased 15 bottles from Mancera, Montale and lattafa. And I can't wear everything that I already own. I think you can call it CHASING SCENTS. SO I feel you!!!

This happens to most fragrance enthusiasts.

What Zizzy suggested is the answer- get little samples/decants and wear it for a week or 2 before deciding if you want a full bottle.
I found that 90%+ of fragrances I initially liked weren’t full bottle worthy after wearing for a week or 2.

As for a longer lasting Colonia- Try Aqua Di Parma’s Colonia Essenza. It’s essentially the citrus opening of Colonia that lasts all day.

I'm right there with ya. Started getting sample packs from various houses and that just led to even more that I added to the collection/addiction.lol

With an impressive collection like this, would also first recommend being pleased with what is there and simply enjoy most of their often very good performance, as well as possible compliments potential.

Have you tried Costume National Homme? If you like fig you will love it. It has dried fruits, kind of like trail fruits smell along with a touch or camphor and clove with a foggy musk cloud giving it a fluffy sensation. Also you need to smell Fico di Amalfi from Acqua di Parma. Fig and fresh fruits and a few woods. Very refreshing.

And about not buying anymore? Who are you kidding? Nobody likes a quitter.
