    Question Incense recommendations

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. As mentioned in previous posts, I am a huge Zegna fan for its simple elegance in compositions. For my tastes, I feel that zegna does a really good job at showcasing one note and using high quality ingredients to do it. So, I was wondering if any of you out there would have any recommendations on something that is similar to Zegna Incense Gold now that it is hard to find. Thank you all in advance!

I don't know Incense Gold, but if you like frankincense, you should try out Profumum Roma Olibanum. It's great. It's very simple, but very well done. Myrrh, orange blossom, sandalwood, and frankincense.
Currently wearing: Acqua di Sale by Profumum

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually have that one on the list though I have not had the chance to test it yet. The only thing holding me back on those is the price, but I am gonna have to bite the bullet. The house seems to share the same philosophy in perfumery that Zegna holds. Thanks a lot!

Ma Nishtana by Prissana is the best I've experienced.

I am too a lover of incense fragrance and I have a bottle of Zegna Incense Gold so I think I know what you are seeking. Zegna Incense Gold is a very bold leathery and spice incense - probably too bold for all but a few. I recommend giving a try to: (1) Ma Nistana Parfum Prissana, (2) Zegna Essenze Madras Cardamom, and (3) Profumum Olibanum. These are as good as Incense Gold but maybe a little easier to wear. Luckyscent is selling 30 ml. bottles of Ma Nistana, but you used to be able to get a 50 ml. bottle direct from the perfumers website for about the same price, don't know if that is still available. There has been much talk about this one here on BNotes - I recommend it.

I will have to read older threads. Thanks! I've read your previous posts and Zegna, and I can tell you are a big fan of them. I appreciate your suggestion.

I agree, Cardinal is pretty good. I don't have a bottle, only a sample. I have bottles of Avignon and Kyoto, Epic, and Zirh Ikon.

Also try look for the discontinued Tom Ford Sahara Noir. It pops up every once in a while on eBay.

For incense, I think sampling the Comme Des Garcons incense series would be great, especially the first three: Avignon, Jaisalmer and Kyoto. I especially enjoyed Jaisalmer, though it's been quite a while since I tried these.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have to recommend sampling Interlude Man. It's probably much bigger and more complex (not to mention complicated) than you're looking for, but it's a work of art.

As long as we're on the topic: Can anyone compare Cardinal to any of the Comme Des Garcons incense scents?

It has been a very long time since I sniffed Cardinal (more than 10 years). The only thing I remember is that top notes in Cardinal made it somewhat brighter than the 100% dark Avignon.

There are several different interpretations of incense. I've never tried the one from Zegna, so here's a list.

    Unum LAVS (church)
    Armani Bois d'Encens (church)
    CdG Avignon (church)

Naomi Goodsir Bois d'Ascese (smoky incense)
Comme des Garcons BLACK (smoky incense)

Sonoma Scent Studio Incense Pure (raw frankincense)
AbdesSalaam Attar Holy Water (raw frankincense)
    MadHat Scents

Oud Gulab - Ruh Gulab, Taif Rose, Ambergris, Tobacco and Thai Oud
