Default Compliment getters for a gift?

Hello, I would like to send my mother a fragrance for her birthday. She isn’t experienced with them and neither am I really (women’s fragrances). However, I know she would enjoy having one, she just doesn’t ever seem to be willing to buy one.

I was curious if people here could possibly give me a few names of big compliment getters that I might use to narrow down the options and find a way to try. Certainly, she would enjoy receiving compliments. Any advice on particularly big compliment getters would be appreciated. She lives in a warmer climate where there isn’t much winter. So it would need to be a year round or warmer weather fragrance. I prefer not to spend a crazy niche sum without need, but I suppose budget isn’t a very strict restriction. Thank you ahead for whatever you could provide.

A very nice thought on your part and an interesting approach! One question that comes to mind that could aid in finding something appropriate: are there any particular flowers or other aromas that your mom is known to especially like?

I just bought my mother Mon Guerlain edt. Less than $30 for 1oz bottle on Fragrancenet.

Excellent suggestion! Definitely a very pleasant compliment-getter. I can attest to that from personal experience.

I would definitely buy JOY DE PATOU for her. It is simple, it is basic, it is extremely beautiful, clean, flowery, lightweight, and a classic. Who does not like jasmine?

Possibly also most of the feminine and/or unisex scents by l'Occitane-most of these bright, natural smelling, fresh yet not lacking a certain sophistication and versatile everyday elegance, while both their performance and their quality are way above their fairly affordable price range

I don’t know anything at all about her preferences. We’ve never talked about that. I can tell you that I have always liked the smell of roses myself, but no idea how much I might have inherited that from her.

Adding and considering a few rose recommendations on budget, Joop Le Bain, Arlesienne by the aforementioned house of l'Occitane and/or Versace Red Jeans could be worth some (re) testing prior to gift buying

I would recommend Diptyque Philosykos - a nice bright green aromatic fig scent that is great for the warmer weather.
