    Hello, dear Notables,

why did it take me so long to return to basenotes and check in? No matter, here I am.

    Cyberhugs to shycat!

SOTD has been Bowmakers by D. S. & Durga for a while. It is a true scent memory of my orchestra years. I did step out the other day in Amarige for my solo, socially distanced walk. Amarige is a force field!

    love to all.

Fingers crossed for the senior Shykitten, and it's so good to see the return of PL and Jujy!

Jon, why didn't I think of that? Sycomore EDT never fails to cheer me up. I'll indulge in a lavish application today.

Good to see jujy & PerfumedLady here!

The UK has now joined the "stay at home" club, too. Except for "key workers" like myself, that is.

l must say the skies today looked clearer than l ever remember seeing them. Then it struck me, with no planes in the air, there are no vapour trails!

l gave the lounge a good deep clean today, & it's ready for Mr teardrop to start painting tomorrow while l'm at work. lt was quite therapeutic, & strangely enjoyable to be at home together with the radio on.

Shycat, I thought of you while at the grocery store today.

I had ladled on about half a vat of Sycomore in the morning. At the supermarket in the afternoon, the woman ahead of me in the check-out line told me I smelled and great and asked what I was wearing. My pleasure at getting the compliment was seriously tempered, however, when I looked more closely and realized she was wearing a leopard-print flannel onesie and fuzzy bedroom slippers.

    A leopard-print flannel ... Well, we like free-thinkers.

Teardrop, any talk about you Essentials getting hazard pay? Our daughter, who sorts mail, coming in contact with who knows how many articles sent by sickies, is working extra hard to compensate for those not showing up because they can't get child care or have various health concerns. She's hoping there's some extra compensation at some point.

Shycat - thanks for checking in and your son sounds like he will be just fine. Just continue to make the best out of the situation and please post more here on Basenotes, I so look forward to reading your posts. ((bear hugs))

jujy54 + PerfumedLady - nice to see you also

Quarry - it sounds like you're all back to normal no?

TrilbyLark - how is your husband feeling? Normal?

So...today...my job laid off 5 people in the staff. I sort of wasn't surprised but of course I *was* surprised. One (1) woman who was let go reports to me, so I had to be involved (I didn't have to give her the notice - my President of FL did that). Her and he and I (and my Manager) all spoke on a teleconference today. It was a tough day. But we expect a big downturn in business so the company is acting proactively and I understand this. I am pretty sure the remaining 5 people on my team and I can handle the work flow. Let's see. One day at a time, as they say.

I wore this all day (and all yesterday)...and totally drained my decant of this. It's not his best scent...but there's something strangely addictive to it. Like ocean mixed with pineapple mixed with sandalwood. I think probably 10 years ago I would have detested this - but it's addictively good today. I don't think I would go through a full bottle of this though, but it's been a good solid post-Winter/early Spring scent. Giancarlo also told me several times yesterday how good I smelled. It's supposed to smell like Colony by Jean Patou...which I've never smelled.

Bwah ha ha! That's priceless! I also went to the grocery store this morning....jean, t-shirt, and coat I couldn't take off when I got hot because I didn't wear a bra. Nabbed myself two pounds of ground beef and two gallons of bleach among other things. I had to give up my raisin bread because I already had hamburger buns and regular bread. Total tab was $400 and I've never seen Sam so happy over frozen food and Nesquik.

My older son says he had very little shortness of breath and now it's all congestion. He's not chatty about it, and asked me not to tell extended family so they wouldn't worry. I don't really know if he's better or just telling me he's better so I won't worry. I'm a mess. But I'm a wildly productive mess. I can't sleep and I can't sit still, so I continue to clean up my little stream up and down for my neighbors.

My across the retention pond neighbors are appreciative! Lynn's husband got out his chainsaw and they gave me a real lift. I refused to shake her hand. and she said "Oh, my hands are dirty." I had to explain that I was all about coronavirus. Then I crossed the stream dragging some branches, slipped in the mud and went down. Twice. Today, I wrestled a 55 gallon metal drum up out of there (previous teenagers little table for a club, abandoned.)

I'm thinking of you, 24Fauberg. Mr. Cat wanted to shelter in my finished basement and I said no. Sam didn't want him, and my sons come first always. We agreed that once he got settled in it would be hard to shift him and I wasn't ready for that step. I think it might be a deal breaker for him, but you know if it is, so be it. I missed him for a few days, and one day it washed over me "Thank God there's not a man in the basement!" Strange.

I'm in Rosarium for the night, and wishing you all good health and plenty of bread.

Hey, Mike, thanks for asking. Mr. Lark is much better. His cough has subsided and his energy is better. I'm quite well, despite being around several sick people in the past 30 days.

Shycat, sending lots of healing prayers for your son to have a full recovery. Good decision about Mr. Cat.

I am happy to have made it home to Montreal, but still terribly anxious. We are on full lockdown now, everything is closed but grocery & pharmacy, but I am too scared to go out anyway. My anxiety is unfortunately affecting my dog, she is hardly eating and glued to my side. I need to pull myself together for her sake.

I think anyone working in essential services nowadays deserves combat pay. Thank you for your service!

TL, I have to love that description and its allure! I'll have to get out the only Shalimar I have on hand, vintage EDC.

SOTN is Eris Night FLower which I find to be quite the homage to Shalimar.
