Default Started picking up a salivic note in Dunhill for Men

Recently started noticing this sorta' salivic note in Dunhill for Men. Huge in the cologne vintage, present and lighter in a early one not so much in the one that's a couple of years old.
What is it! A bit animalic, a bit decaying flora type smell

Get a similar note in VCAPH though more musky , and also in 90-95 Worth PH
    Scratching me noggin ...

Could it be the geranium that's giving you that vibe? Just a wild guess.

Dry saliva? Iris + indole from flowers?

I see yes, lol I was gonna say 'indolic' but I wasnt 100% sure what it means, but yes in the Dunhill, quite a heady/sticky note .
Someone mentioned is could be a type of leather when I asked about it I regard to Worth PH a while ago.

Not too familiar with those scents, however, I wonder do they list Labdanum as a note. I have heard Labdanum described as dried saliva - imagine licking your arm, letting it fully dry, then pushing your nose up against it some time later!

Labdanum is the main ingredient of the amber accord.
I own labdanum absolut. It's very jammy sweet, slightly sour and smoky. Extremely strong and dense.
    I love it.

Never had this problem so far with this particular scent, however will have to re-test its asap for more conclusive/recent results.

Did however notice in a more off topic way this particular type of note, albeit less animalic and pronounced, rather than in vintage masculine powerhouses in 90s aquatic bombs (even before the heyday of ambroxan, synthetic renditions of tonka and of fresh woods etc.).
And while not entirely unpleasant, something "off", almost stale persisted in both genuine and unspoiled types of these aquatics, almost as if trying to hard to be fresh and inoffensive yielded a nearly opposite, both chemically screechy and stuffy, un-aerated, unsavory, nearly annoying effect.
