Default Does anyone here cut his own hair, like me?

Since 2012, I've been cutting my own hair. I use very good equipment (top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art Wahl clippers, and professional scissors for details -including thinning scissors). I always cut it in the UNDERCUT style, but not too short. Over the years, my performance as a do-it-yourself barber has only improved.

Does anyone else here cut his own hair? What has your experience been on this matter?

I've tried and failed miserably. I have longer hair so it's not an easy task. I can't even cut my kid's hair either, lol.

I've been cutting my and Mr. Q's hair for decades using a FlowBee, then a RoboCut, and now another FlowBee. Works!

Maybe all Americans should take that $1,200 that's coming from the government and buy FlowBees and bidets.

    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

LOL, no, I am not that cute. I used to be cute when I was young but now I am just an overweight and unnatractive middle aged guy. The only positive thing about me now is that I am smart. Well, Socrates the philosopher was incredibly ugly and he had a troop of attractive young men following him everywhere. There is still hope for me!

I don't cut my own hair, but the current world situation does present a quandary as to what people are going to do since they can't go to a barber/hairdresser right now. And no telling how long that may last.

I wear my hair longer than most, but even I have my limits. This might be a real life "Almost Cut My Hair" moment. I might even take the opportunity to see what I look like with a beard/mustache since I'm not going to be seeing many people and there's nothing else to do.

I know several girls who are hair stylists. It might be against policy to do a side gig but desperate times.....
I won't need a cut for another month or so, I don't think I'll have to resort to paying a stylist under the table for an at home cut.

Did my first self haircut yesterday due to frustration of finding a good barber and the Coronavirus problem. Setup included a Kent Comb, Brio Beardscape Trimmer, Iphone and an iPad.

Watched the below video for Clipper over Comb technique.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0zqK00sQT_4

iPad was in front of me with FaceTime turned on while my wife held the iPhone when I was trimming at the back. Hand and eye coordination to cut while looking at the mirror/iPad was challenging at the start but in the end the results were quite satisfactory.

Been almost three months since I was last at the barber and it's a good thing that my hair was cut shorter than what I wanted because it has extended me needing a haircut. I don't like to look like I need a haircut or that I just had my haircut so for me about every 6 weeks. I trim my bangs, side burns, and neckline weekly but I am really at the point where I could use a professional haircut.

Yeah, I had a go over the weekend -- my partner did the back

I have Wahl clippers also -- they are terrific

I might never go back to the barbers

Been doing my own for about ten years. Before it started getting too thin, I used to wear it in a messy spike look. Now, I just run the bare clipper blades over my whole noggin. I use a Wahl professional series and it’s paid for itself 50x over.

My hair is in long layers. The boyfriend is hopeless when it comes to cutting hair. In fact I'm pretty hopeless myself. I think I'm going to have to go back to the one length hair I had as a teen. Not a great look for me 4+ decades later.

I do, I've been doing it for decades using the Flowbee, nothing like it for a perfect cut every time.

I have been trying to talk my wife into cutting mine, but it scares her to death. My haircut is very similar to the guy in the opening post of this thread.

I wear a tapered fade, 2 at the shortest at the neckline, graduated up. The top would probably be the trickiest, and around my crown.

I tried it for the first time recently with clippers since barbershops are all closed. Came out okay. I might make it a habit and get some more practice.

    Basenotes post did the trick?

I need to look at options as we might be peaking for the CoVid this month in Ontario, Canada and I'm already due for a cut about a week ago. Sadly, my nose is better than my hair cutting skills
