Default Frags you forgot you had?

Looking through my wardrobe list on here, I saw some frags that I honestly don't remember I still own. I remember buying them kinda. Does this ever happen to you? I guess in ways, this is like "least worn" but for example.. I know I own Grey Flannel, I just never wear it. I don't remember I own Deauville.

    Michael Germain Deauville
    Paloma Picasso Minotaure
    Rykiel Man
    Joseph Abboud
    Burberry Sport Ice for Men
    Nike Brown Man
Goodfellow & Co. No. 6 Cedarwood & Geranium
    Portfolio for Men

Really what I forget the most are the back ups I have. Over the years I've been stockpiling back ups of random frags, and I forget which ones I have gotten. They're stored away in a drawer behind a lot of heavy stuff, so it's pain to go back in there and look, and sometimes I wond up getting back ups some something I already had. I should probably make a list some day.

I’ve bought a bottle of Lancetti Uomo EDP because I forgot I already had one. It’s good, but I didn’t think I needed a backup.

I don't think I've forgotten any full bottles, but it's embarassing how many times I've ordered samples and then discovered that I had already tried the scent.

Not when it comes to my fragrances but I certainly bought a couple of books twice before making a list. I also seem to think that I need kitchen sponges a lot. Usually end up with several packs.

It won't happen to me that I forget any fragrances!

And if I don't like them, they'll be given away or sold second!

None so far, but not due to some skill, merit or other favorable aspect other than still owning a scent lineup quite moderately sized, average and easy to itemize/keep track of

Haha. I do this with hand soap. I have three bathrooms and I keep one in my kitchen, so I have to have four bottles at a time. I feel like I always have to buy backups. By now, I probably have over ten waiting to be used.

I have some aftershaves and bottles from my youth that I forget I have, though I probably wouldn't even wear them.

I have more than 1000 DVDs and Blu Rays, and I have to admit that I have bought duplicates sometimes without realizing I already had those films. Never bought perfume duplicates like that, but I forgot I had some perfumes, like the aforementioned Meharees.

I don't forget my scents because these BaseNotes threads remind me of my frags!! Like Caligraphy Rose (thanks dealt7faux) that I have a sample of and for some reason have been delaying trying. I'm going to wear it Monday.

Don't own enough bottles to forget but I do forget samples. I'm usually pleased to rediscover a sample because it's sort of "new" to me again.

I will add that I've thrown away quite a few samples over the last couple of years, ones that I didn't like, and now I wish I hadn't. It can be interesting to go back and reevaluate an earlier impression.

I forget fragrances I have that I haven't worn in ages, or are still not in the Basenotes database so I cannot tag.

Same here, impossible to keep track of all the samples owned. Their number being either slightly below or above the amount of normal sized bottles visible.
While their dimension is obviously much smaller and the storage places needing much less place and being more scattered around the house, it is difficult to keep track of the exact amount as well of the specific single fragrances.

This may sound silly, but... I like to sample from my own wardrobe. I own around 50 bottles, plus some decants, but I only wear around 20 of them regularly, if even that many. As my tastes have evolved, I've come to realize that I only need around 10 bottles. I have another 10 that I reach for now and then because I own them (and I do enjoy them very much). But I could easily part with the remaining 30 bottles and never miss 'em.

...but since I do own them, I reach for them when I'm alone at night, as if I'm sampling. I don't tend to log those in the SOTD feature as "wears" since I'm just sampling late at night.

Anyway... I realized recently that I have a pattern with those mostly unworn bottles. I did this with Bleecker Street this week in fact. I'll wear one late at night and be wowed. "I totally forgot about this! It's awesome!!! Why don't I wear it more?!?!?!" I'll leave it on the bathroom counter to remind me to wear it the next day. And I do wear it. I might even wear it again a few days later... aaaaaaand then I remember why I stopped wearing it in the first place. Bleecker Street, for example. Wow, I love the green aspects of it... but wow, that base is synthetic and kind of chemical. By the end of the day, I was debating taking a shower to wash it off... and back into storage it goes. I should sell it.

The things I REALLY forget about are samples & small decants.

I was on a Bois d'Argent kick recently because somebody started a thread about it & I realized, hey, I own a decant, don't I? And sure enough, the same pattern emerged. "Wow, this is awesome!" dot dot dot "Nope, I'm over it." There's something in the base of Bois d'Argent that I'm not crazy about. It's a great scent, but after the top & heart fade and I'm left with the smell of the base, I find that I don't enjoy wearing it.

I never forget I own something but sometimes do not remember the amount of pleasure a fragrance can bring.
Had not worn Amouage OpusIV in many moons.
On a whim put it on last week. It's so good and long lasting that I wore 3 days in the last 7.

There's also the version where you see in the list something you forgot you had, then say okay I'll try that again to see if I still like it (or ever liked it).... and can't find it!!!! Then do you A - remove from your list B - leave it as it will eventually turn up or C - buy it again so you can potentially lose it again.... I have been going with B as would prefer to reduce bottle count.....
