Default MFK Grand Soir in warmer weather?

    Happy Monday,

I just purchased Grand Soir and wanted to get your thoughts on wearing it in warmer weather.

This is an amazing fragrance for cooler weather but live in Atlanta and would wear in our many warm months.

Thank you again for your input and stay positive in these crazy times.

    Best,
    Michael

I do not have any problems wearing it in warmer weather, I don't see why the weather should hold me back from wearing something that I like but everyone has their own personal preferences.

I am with oudaddict for the most part. I wear any scent at any time of year as my mood strikes me. Personally no issues with Grand Soir in the heat but Atlanta heat and humidity will be higher than my locale. Give it a few tries and see how you like it. Very little down side if it isn't to your taste.

Echoing the reviewers above I have wore Grand Soir plenty of times in warmer weather. It is such a comforting scent. Perhaps the cooler months may show it's total beauty but it has versatility to be worn for all 12 months. One of MFK's best in my opinion. I don't live in the deeper South like yourself but Knoxville has it's share of 90 plus degree weather and it isn't stifling to me.

I think it would be just fine.

I too wear all my fragrances year round. There are ones I reach for more during certain times, but if I want to wear something, I’ll give it a try. At most I will adjust the amount of sprays.

I’d go for it. And if you live in an area with social distancing it’s a great time to test.
    Favorite Houses:
    Hermès
    Rogue Perfumery
    Zoologist
    Amouage
    Frederic Malle
    Serge Lutens

    Loves:
Florals (especially rose, tuberose, cherry blossom, orange blossom, osmanthus, ylang ylang, immortelle, violet, jasmine, plum blossom, heliotrope, and iris)
Orientals (especially spicy, woody, and floral orientals)
    Boozy notes
    Chypres (especially with real oakmoss)
    Rich gourmands
    Animalic fragrances
    Great longevity and sillage

I see no issues whatsoever in wearing it in summer if you happen to enjoy it.

One or two sprays maybe. Or maybe an evening out, but its kind of a day long affair. Its a tough summer wear for me.

I'd prefer it in colder weather, but a light application should work in warm weather as well (meaning staying mostly in an air conditioned inside). Not sure outside in the heat of the Georgia summer.

I actually just ordered it 2 days ago. I think you can't wear this is high heat or warm days outside. But this is one of the most comforting scents ever imo and I'll be wearing it indoors throughout Spring with no problem I think

I concur- I hasten to say even 1 as 2 sprays can become quite cloying on me.
    My skin projects exceeding well.

Wear what you like, when you like. Me personally I stick to cooler or cold weather As I think this is when this fragrance really shines! Also I have to be wary, fragrances project on my skin extremely well so even in colder weather I only wear one spray also I purchased my bottle shortly after release and it is quite strong, but recently I think although the scent remains the same it has been dialed back a bit and is slightly weaker so perhaps it would be more warm weather friendly but still be cautious as it still is fairly strong.

I hear a lot of people say it’s linear but I find the opposite to be true. I believe after several wearings this sent has many facets and it’s so warm and inviting. Probably one of my favorite go to vanillas- an all-around warm and comforting scent. It rivals jpg le male, but grand soir still has the edge due to the more niche quality, but ironically same perfumer.

Enjoy this one, I love it!

    Thanks you for your thoughts!

Fragrances project on my skin as well and I usually go with one spray, except with lighter ones like Elysium, Still Life in Rio, Acqua Viva, etc.
I have sampled this in the past and it sticks around for a while.
My curiosity and love for this composition has me wanting to experiment in the warmer months... hence pulling the trigger on a full bottle.

Interesting enough, when I sampled this a Neimans a few months ago the Grand Soir tester was 95% full and Baccarat Rouge 540 was almost empty.
I have never noticed this scent on anyone in the past.

Thank you again for your input and I look forward to rocking this one.

    Best,
    Michael

Yes, longevity is superb 12+ at least. I agree this one flew heavy under the radar, in fact I heard rumors of discontinuation but those have been laid to rest. BR 540 was hyped to the hilt. It’s a great fragrance, but sadly just a little to sweet for me. Grand soir is not so much an underrated gem but more of a diamond in the rough as it is an extremely well polished scent and very elegant. APLS although it has its fans I don’t think it was well received as grand Soir even though they were cut from the same cloth and the former being more anamalic perhaps steered people away from purchasing its younger brother. I own both and find grand soir much more versatile as opposed to APLS which can be off putting to some and slightly difficult to find the proper situation to wear it.

Wear it, enjoy it, but my advice, be a little stingy with it. It’s a master work and should be treated as such

    Regards

I wear orientals all year long. Some come alive in warmer weather, open up and bloom. Parfum Sacre comes to mind.

I find habit rouge EDC to bloom very nicely in the warmth. I have a vintage splash bottle in the coffee bean box probably from the late 70s. It’s hard to date early bottles but it certainly from that era.
