Shalimar Cologne today. Six sprays were definitely an overkill, so I had to scrub half of it. No more than three from now on. That thing is strong.

    Happy birthday to cazaubon!

N.CAL, how is Tuberose and Moss? I was most excited about this out of the new releases by Rogue and can't wait until there are full bottles for sale.

Today I'm wearing Promise by Frederic Malle. I flip flopped quite a bit on buying this. Though I enjoy oud and cypriol on other people, on my skin it is usually terrible. This one, however, was pretty nice on me. Normally I reserve it for nights out but hey, while in quarantine....

    Loves:
Florals (especially rose, tuberose, cherry blossom, orange blossom, osmanthus, ylang ylang, immortelle, violet, jasmine, plum blossom, heliotrope, and iris)
Orientals (especially spicy, woody, and floral orientals)
    Boozy notes
    Chypres (especially with real oakmoss)
    Rich gourmands
    Animalic fragrances
    Great longevity and sillage

Good morning, all! And a very Happy Birthday to cazaubon! What are you eating/drinking/watching/reading/otherwise doing to celebrate your special day? I think it’s even more important to celebrate life’s milestones (and inch-stones!) right now.

I’m sampling Papillon Artisan Perfumes Dryad this morning. I like the idea of this fragrance more than the fragrance itself. It’s too austerely and unrelentingly dry-green. All sharp elbows, if you will. Plus, narcissus has never been a great note for me (along with hyacinth, as I discovered after I blind bought a bottle of Bas de Soie). I think Papillon’s other offerings are fantastic, so I’ll probably soon switch my sample to Tobacco Rose.

Very happy birthday wishes to dear caz! I hope you have a great day!

Mike gave me a hankering for my SotD with his post from a couple days ago; wearing Truth or Dare this morning. Not something I can wear regularly but it sure hits the spot when the craving strikes. And yes, very much fancier feeling than the $30 or so that I paid for it!

Sad to hear that about Dryad! I need to revisit it sometime when fragrance stores open around me. I remember smelling it (on paper) at a store and wanting to come back to it shortly before the quarantine.

Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Thursday, 9th April, 2020

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Happy Birthday Caz!

I'm wearing Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Elixir today.

It's got oud, green hemlock, dark nutty-grassy notes and a sort of airy leathery-oud-floral undertone. It's fantastic and way underrated.

Hello everyone Last night's nightshift felt looong and exhausting. Hoping tonight's shift will be better. Caz, Happy birthday Sotd/night is TDC Bois d'iris. I love this and it's becoming one if my "go to scents". I guess I love iris and woody notes. Speaking about woods, Ormonde woman original is one of my favourite scents... I wonder if I would enjoy the elixir version Have a great day everyone
