Default Looking for a new experience

It has been quite a while since I have been active here on the message boards. I am finding myself somewhat bored in my fragrance journey. I had never thought this would happen as quickly as it did. I got a request from you all, go over to my wardrobe and look at what bottles I own and take a look at what fragrances I tried. It would take far too long to update my samples but my owned and tried portions are accurate. I’m asking each of you to recommend 5 fragrances that aren’t on either of those lists. I trust you all to help me out with this one, as I am at my wits end.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    I would suggest these -

Bruno Fazzolari - Corpse Reviver, Ummagumma
    Le Labo - Patchouli 24, Oud 27
Serge Lutens - Santal Majuscule, Cuir Cannage
    Mugler - Cuir Impertinent

And three 'wild cards' - Bleu de Chanel Parfum, Ombre Leather and Vert des Bois, different from the stuff you have but you might enjoy these.

Aren't you the poster who was mad about Guerlain reformulating Tonka Imperiale?

Thanks for the recommendations, even though I’m not happy about the longevity on Tonka Imperiale it wasn’t me... lol

    Hi Mike,

You seem to be mostly owning designer or mainstream niche fragrances. No surprise you are getting bored. Time for you to go in the under-the-radar niche and indie territory. (but be ready to hurt your CC)

Some decently priced options to try:

    - sampler kit of Rogue
    - sampler kit of La Curie
    - sampler kit of Monsillage
    - sampler kit of Etat Libre d'Orange
    - sampler kit of Andy Tauer
    - sampler kit(s) of Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
    - sampler kit of Beaufort
    - sampler kit of Histoires de Parfum
    - sampler kit of January Scent Project

Suggesting you fragrances would be based on my tastes, and thus not really relevant for you (sorry, I don't really feel like making an analysis of your favourite frags)
    Good luck for your quest!

Rogue Perfumery would do you well.

    Chypre-Siam
    Mousse Illuminee
    Derviche
    Tabac Vert
    Fougere. L'Aube

    These are worth trying.

I'm currently hosting a sample for Rogue Perfumery.

You have some good ones in your top 25. Maybe explore a different a different house that you're not use to. I am feeling the same way as my passion for wearing a stellar fragrance hasn't dwindled, but my excitement for purchasing and receiving them has.

Shocking isn't it. 'Shy' would be a huge understatement.

I suggest checking out DS & Durga's range of fragrances

If you truly want an amazing, new, mind blowing experience...Ensar Oud. I will leave it at that

    1) Tiger Lust (EDP or Pure Parfum) most mind blowing experience..addicting, complex, beautiful.
    2) Kastalana (Cambodian/Thai oud oil)
    3) Santal Royale (1980’s Mysore Sandalwood distillation)
    4) Crime & Punishment (similar to Tigerlust but with a raspberry note)
    5) EO1 (most unbelievable leather scent I’ve ever smelled)

All 100% natural Siberian Musk, Oud, Ambergris, Civet, you name it. No synthetics.

I am very interested in trying some from their line, Floris Leather Oud and Ombré Leather also sound interesting to me since I do not really have any leather based fragrances currently in my collection.

    Hmm,

In another thread recently I recommended this and I'll do the same here......Clive Christian's "Addictives" line. My favorites are Psychedelic and Hypnotic. I own Psychedelic (bought it recently after wanting it for a year and found about the best price I was going to find) and the first time I used it people at the grocery store were complimenting it and asking what it was. Very unusual and unique synthetic methods. Clive Christian states their proprietary process for making the ingredients are unlike any other fragrance. I agree. I doubt these can be copied by any dupe house, so you're stuck paying their ransom demands for greatness in a bottle.
